Kaizen Manga Café is widely celebrated as a cozy, welcoming retreat for anime and manga enthusiasts looking for a relaxing environment to read, study, or socialize. The café earns consistent praise for its high-quality matcha drinks, particularly the signature raspberry and Okinawa sugar varieties, as well as a flavorful food menu featuring items like banh mi, onigiri, and ramen. Visitors frequently highlight the exceptionally kind and dedicated staff, noting that the inclusive atmosphere and community-focused approach make it a standout destination in downtown Montreal. While the space serves as an effective co-working hub for students and professionals, some patrons mention that it can become warm during the summer or noisy depending on the crowd, yet the overall consensus points to a charming, personality-filled gem that keeps people coming back for the unique experience and friendly service.
Nice cafe to hangout with a friend & spend time creating sobering or reading mangas. Ok place to study or work but can be noisy if there's a big group. Solo or duo tables are quite small. What is ordered is brought out to you. The drink & food deal is good if you plan to stay for a long period of time. Matcha powder is of a good quality & the drink tastes amazing. Overall a great spot, would come back!
Bon spot pour étudier / travailler ou pour lire des mangas. L'ambiance est très sympa mais la musique est un peu trop forte. Le Hojicha latte était bon mais les choux à la crème non. Bon spot pour étudier tout de même.
Food:
I got the moka, & it was good. Smooth, lightly sweet, & easy to drink while hanging out. This is not really a place where the drink has to carry the whole experience, but it was still a solid coffee & fit the vibe perfectly.
Atmosphere:
This place was such a fun find. The whole café feels like a little anime & manga hideout. The walls are covered with big shonen references, & I loved seeing series like Naruto, One Piece, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, & Berserk worked into the space. The Naruto shelves especially stood out, & the manga-covered wall gave the room so much personality. It feels casual & comfortable, but also genuinely made for people who love this stuff.
Service:
Friendly & easygoing. Everything felt relaxed, & it was an easy place to settle in for a bit.
Summary:
Easy 5/5. The moka was good, but the atmosphere is what makes Kaizen Manga Café memorable. A great Montréal stop if you love anime, manga, or just want a café with real personality.
I went there with a friend on Friday, & I really enjoyed my time there! Sarah was truly welcoming & kind!
I felt really comfortable being in the library section & talk. I will definitely continue passing by again! Would recommend this spot to anyone who loves anime 🫶🏼🫶🏼
One of my favorite places to hang out in the city, & Sara (the owner) is the loveliest & most welcoming host!!! I definitely recommend getting a membership & making it to any activities when you can. Despite a busy schedule, every time I go, I feel so
welcomed :)
We had a great time. The kids had downtime reading the manga 💕 they had ramen. Green tea & chocolate chip cookies! The bao were so yummy & the bah mi as well! Super friendly owner 🩷
Love love love this cafe !!
The memberships might feel weird at first but most of the money goes in food credit. The activities are fun & you can join an amazing community.
The desserts are super tasty (particularly the matcha tiramisu & the okinawa matcha)
Very nice little cafe, i absolutely adoreee their Raspberry Matcha with the Raspberry cold foam, my favourite matcha ever!!! It is an insane flavour combo. Not really a cafe to go study (unless you have a pass/subscription to their other floor) but you can still sit down & eat or drink, they have two seats for that. Very nice employees & good service always!
