I had an amazing experience at K2 Bistro! The tasty sushi selections were fresh & flavorful, satisfying every craving I had. The staff was super friendly & so quick. The wonderful environment was enhanced by the amazing studio ghibli decor! The food was super easy to order & came out super quick even if it was busy. I can't wait to return & indulge in more delicious offerings! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a delightful sushi buffet experience!

La nourriture est bonne, mais le service est très décevant.
Depuis hier, j'essaie d'appeler pour faire une réservation & personne ne répond. Quand j'ai finalement réussi à les joindre, on m'a simplement dit qu'ils ne pouvaient pas répondre au téléphone. Je ne comprends pas pourquoi on exige des réservations par téléphone si personne n'est disponible pour répondre. En plus, il est impossible de réserver sur leur site web.
Une fois, j'attendais même à la réception & il n'y avait personne pendant un moment, alors que le téléphone sonnait plusieurs fois sans que quelqu'un réponde.
Enfin, c'est affiché comme « à volonté », mais on vous impose une limite de 2 heures & on vous demande ensuite de partir. Ce genre d'information devrait être clairement indiqué aux clients. Très dommage, car avec une meilleure organisation du service, l'expérience pourrait être bien meilleure.
K2 rivals with Kaedo for best AYCE sushi in the city. This location is much more impressive than their last which was further down crescent. There is more seating available in this one, much needed as they get super busy. The staff does an excellent job at managing the bustling demand, dishes don't take too long to come out even with so many people ordering at once, it's quite impressive. The interior is fantastically decorated with some Anime elements, they make good use of the two floors. There is plenty of variety in the menu & the quality is generally great.

Excellent food quality & variety. Wow decorations inspired of anime with murals & sculptures/figurines is all sizes. The best all-you-can-eat sushi especially if going work little kids.

I went to this sushi restaurant after our bagel trip in Montreal. My friends chose the spot, & we had a nice lunch before heading to Quebec.
I remember it was a very cold day. Our bodies hadn't yet adapted to the bone chilling coolness of winter. Our hands were freezing, & it was hard to find a parking spot. After driving around for ages 😂, we finally found one & walked to the restaurant.
From the outside, it looked quite modest. But stepping inside felt like turning back time. I saw all my favorite childhood anime characters everywhere.
The restaurant was full & pretty busy, mostly with locals, it seemed. It didn't take long for us to be seated. The ordering process was straightforward: it's an AYCE, so you can place your order through the app.
The side dishes were good, & the sushi was delicious. The sashimi portions were small but fresh. I didn't eat much since I was mainly there for the anime theme, but my friends ate a ton 🥰. The prices were great, too.
Service was fast & friendly.

I've always been a fan of their other unit (Manga Bistro) & K2 does not disappoint. The decor is AMAZING, you feel immersed in the Studio Ghibli universe. The staff is friendly & helpful, quick service & food is just as delicious. I'll come back for sure!

The rolls were lovely, the variety was great & the decor was even better. We barely waited on our food (I waited a bit long for my soup, but otherwise, incredibly fast & diligent service). If you can, reserve on the second floor (that's where most of the cool memorabilia & decor is). Even if you are given a first floor table, you get transported into the Studio Ghibli universe. A must try for a date night or a hangout with friends.
K2 Bistro offers an all-you-can-eat dinner like no other. I say all-you-can-eat dinner, not buffet, because the food items are individually ordered & plated, sometimes even individually finalized. & the food is of restaurant quality.
We really came for their fish. I mean, raw & cooked fish. The restaurant's theme is Japanese anime. Naturally, most dishes - if not all, are inspired by Japanese seafood tradition & lean heavily on sushi & sashimi. (Despite the Japanese facade, the restaurant is owned & operated by people of Chinese heritage like many suishi restaurants are.) Raw fish dishes here are a good showcase of their care in ingredients & in preparation. They also distinguish themselves from sushi buffets in the varieties of dishes offered.
Ville-Marie where K2 Bistro is located in is a busy commercial district. But the restaurant has a small storefront & comparatively less flashy exterior. Combined with their pricepoint, most diners must be seeking them out. Shortly after we entered around 5pm in a December evening, the dining hall on the second floor was filled with what could only be described as repeat visitors. Once inside, you are immersed in Studio-Ghibili-themed decors from wall to wall. Whether ceiling-to-floor panels or 3D installations, they are crafted with care.
Once seated, you use a touchscreen on the side of your table to order. Compared with full service restaurants, food comes relatively fast. Food is prepared somewhere on the first floor & fetched through the same staircase you walk up from. I was facing the staircase, & was amazed by the lack of real danger of servers clashing with guests the entire time! Some food items require a finishing touch, such as a torch-over. This is performed on a narrow counter on the second floor. When there is no food, that counter looks like a normal space divider. When something needs a finishing comes up, someone magically appears, torch (or other equipment/ingredient) in hand. Nothing theatrical. But if you think of the logistics, K2 Bistro is nothing short of magic.
All in all, K2 Bistro offers an enjoyable dining experience - & a satisfactory meal. It has certainly attracted a dedicated following among Montreal's digital economy participants. But if you are from out of town, &/or not from the digital-native generation, seek them out. You won't be disappointed!
