An absolute gem. Incredible staff, no-nonsense interior & fantastic food including all the classics, Bibimbap, rice cakes, japchae, kimchi, soju, etc. Food comes out to your table lightning quick & the fried chicken is to die for. Highly, highly recommend.
This place is normally great, so I don't know if something changed or if tonight was just unlucky. We've never had problems with the food before, so this was disappointing, because the portions are quite nice.
I ordered the Donkatsu combo & my wife the Buldak combo. First, the rice was super watery/mushy, as if it had not been cooked in a rice cooker, or too much water was added & it was reheated in the microwave.
The Japchae in the Buldak combo tasted very old & stale, as if it was warmed up from an old batch or something.
The buldak itself tasted fine, but my wife could tell it wasn't exactly as fresh as it could be.
The coleslaw was the only thing that we could really tell was freshly made.
The Donkatsu itself was good, no comment on this one, it's one of my favorites.
Very disappointed as my wife wanted a taste of home & she got a bit let down.
I never sew Bihimbap, I need to try to find the riz insides. If you don't pay attention, you almost can't find the riz inside, the boss is too cheap. Also the boeuf is not like before. I came the restaurant serval time , but right now, the quality is too bad.
replay: yes, you are right. You gave me feedback back as soon as possible. For this point, thanks. Due to inflation, prices have increased a lot, which is understandable. However, what disappointed me was that I've honestly never seen a bibimbap with so little rice in it.
While this is a really good Korean spot for the West Island, it is still not truly authentic. Service is top notch though, they get really busy & serve so consistently! Id say Matjip still is my #1 in the West Island, nothing can beat their milky rice & juicy fried chicken (maybe only Coqcor near Concordia) keep up the great service!
Incredible delicious food, super friendly staff, calm relaxing vibes. I was invited here for dinner & I was blown away by how good the donkatsu & the rice cakes were. Thank you!
I ordered the bibimbap from this menu & it was one of the best I've had. The bowl came out beautifully presented, with fresh vegetables arranged around the rice & topped with a flavorful egg. Every ingredient tasted fresh & thoughtfully prepared - nothing felt rushed or bland.
What really stood out was the balance. The vegetables had great texture, the rice was perfectly cooked, & once mixed together with the sauce, every bite was deeply satisfying without being overwhelming. The miso soup on the side was a great touch as well - light, comforting, & the perfect complement to the dish.
If you're looking for a dish that represents Korean comfort food at a high level, this is an easy recommendation. I'd order it again without hesitation.
