Situé dans un cadre enchanteur aux abords du canal Lachine, le restaurant Il Fornetto est une adresse parfaite pour s’offrir un petit moment de détente et de dépaysement sans pour autant quitter la ville. L’intérieur, au décor d’inspiration rustique quoique plutôt moderne, est des plus agréable. Mais c’est particulièrement pour sa superbe terrasse sur deux étages, donnant directement sur le canal, que l’on aime s’y arrêter. Ouverte tôt au printemps et jusqu’en automne, cette dernière accueille autant les jeunes familles du coin que les amoureux venus profiter du coucher de soleil.
Le menu du Il Fornetto prend des allures d’encyclopédie de la cuisine italienne. La sélection est impressionnante et propose tous les incontournables du genre : pâtes qui sont offertes en assiette ou demi-portion, ce qui est plutôt pratique pour les entrées, antipasti variés et veau, sans oublier l’incontournable pizza cuite au four à bois, particulièrement réussie, croustillante à souhait et garnie des produits les plus frais. Pas surprenant que la maison, ouverte depuis maintenant plus de vingt ans, ne démontre aucun signe d’essoufflement. À découvrir ou redécouvrir.
Les convives louent régulièrement les pizzas cuites au bois et les pâtes, les portions généreuses et le service amical et attentif, offrant une expérience italienne chaleureuse et fiable. L'emplacement au bord du canal et la terrasse donnant sur l'eau constituent un cadre magnifique que de nombreux avis soulignent comme améliorant le repas. Le menu est décrit comme savoureux et réconfortant, avec des pizzas, des lasagnes et des fruits de mer qui sortent du lot, tandis que le personnel est fréquemment salué pour son accueil et son attention. Des notes occasionnelles sur le bruit ou le prix sont mentionnées, mais le sentiment global reste positif et beaucoup disent qu'ils reviendront entre amis ou en famille. En bref, Il Fornetto est présenté comme un choix sûr pour les repas entre proches, alliant une excellente cuisine à une ambiance mémorable.
We were very disappointed with our last visit. The food is mediocre at best & overpriced for what it is. Service was lacking. We sat for a long time before anyone came to take our drink orders, & it felt like we were inconveniencing the waiter by being there. The drinks we ordered were not made correctly. I ordered a Hugo spritz & it tasted like watered down saint germain, without mint. Not sure what their recipe is for it but it is definitely not the standard. Only reason this gets two stars is the location, beautiful patio nearby the canal.

What a lovely restaurant, sat out on the upper terrace with a beautiful view of the water. The service was friendly & the food was absolutely delicious.
Depuis longtemps nous voulions y aller, toujours plein de monde (bon signe) & nous n'avons pas été déçus. Très bonne cuisine, très copieuse, pleine de saveur (la prochaine fois je ne prendrai pas d'entrée, je n'avais plus faim). Service rapide & très sympathique. Je recommande.

Fantastic food with a good variety of wine with great staff superb atmosphere. I was lucky I was at Il Fornetto on a beautiful June evening. I highly recommend.
The service was disappointing, instead of placing the'special' knives for cutting pizza on the table as normal restaurants do, our waiter all but threw the knife on the table & handed the knife to the person sitting across from me. People in my group observed that our server was visibly impatient & that we should hurry up to order (we had sat down less than 10 minutes ago).
During our visit, the manager was yelling at another server for at least 20 minutes. I was trying to enjoy a nice dinner with my family, but instead it felt as though I was on the tv show hell's kitchen having to listen to the staff argue & yell loudly.
The food was mediocre at best, the pizza's tasted as though they were frozen pizza's from the grocery store that had been re-heated in a regular oven, very disappointing since these were $29 pizza's. Again, considering the price point of each dish, & the subpar quality of the food, I would not recommend this establishment.
This restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere & fairly good food. However, some of the waitstaff could benefit from improved communication skills & a touch more refinement. The homemade tiramisu was somewhat underwhelming. Overall, it was a decent dining experience in a fantastic location.
Don't say you want to share. Divide your own meals on your plates & save five dollars. Seems a bit sneaky the way they offer it, but it is stated on the menu about the charge. We also waited a long time to be served after we arrived.
Can't beat the view from the patio. Beautiful park & waterfront to enjoy. Awesome location.
Don't go to this restaurant if you like chicken. I seriously searched & couldn't find a pasta or a pizza with chicken!
The salmon pasta was incredible with a bit of Parmesan on it! The Giardino pizza was a bit bland.
Host & server were both accommodating to some unique needs our family had.
A wonderful place for a wedding anniversary dinner! We have visited Il Fornetto many times over the years & it was a pleasure to return for a quiet40th anniversary dinner. Service Food Ambience & the personal welcome of the owner. They have it nailed! The expresso at the end was a welcome Italian memory!
