Located in an enchanting setting on the shores of the Lachine Canal, Il Fornetto is a perfect place to offer oneself a moment of relaxation and change of scenery without having to leave the city. Inside, the rustic-inspired though modern décor is particularly pleasant. Yet it is above all for its superb, double-level terrace looking out directly over the canal that people love this place. Open from early in spring until late in autumn, the terrace welcomes you to come and enjoy beautiful the sunsets.

Il Fornetto’s menu takes on the appearance of an encyclopaedia of Italian cuisine. The selection is impressive and includes all of the staples: pastas available as a full dish or half portion, which is great for an entrée, various antipasti and veal and the most important staple of them all, pizza baked in a real wood-burning oven. Here, it is particularly delicious, crispy and topped with the freshest ingredients. Not surprisingly, this restaurant – open since 1987 – shows no sign of slowing down.

The host/manager who met me at the door was kind & polite. Helped me to a very nice table. Waitress very kind & the food amazing. The only thing we noticed was that the stove seemed to be gas, & not wood. The pizza was still amazing though.. Very good restaurant.

Great spot on the Canal, second floor balcony was wide open for us on a beautiful day too. Absolutely stunning
Server was attentive & quick.
Food was great, Caesar salad was really a grand slam. Surprising
Pizza with hot honey was delicious (Diavola). So was the goat cheese one. Though the dough could have been more fluffy & tasty. Slightly bland despite the char.

Tiramisu was good!
Would come back to try their pasta varieties.

The atmosphere & vibe is good but that's the only thing nice about the place. We weren't offered the focaccia they usually serve to the guests. The portion size is very small compared to the prices. No match between the price, taste, portion & service. You are only paying for the view in front of Lachine channel. Wouldn't go again.

My boyfriend introduced me to this place, the food is so scrumptious that I always forget to take the picture. I have been there twice & have always been acknowledged warmly, even if they dont have seatings available or you didn't reserve it. They try their best to accommodate you. The pasta is very fresh & the choice of wine is just perfecto! The food very good in quality. Highly recommend as it is also by a very beautiful scenic river just makes it more enjoyable.
