The venue is widely regarded as a memorable spot, with many visitors eager to return for the consistently enjoyable food and high standards of hospitality.
My first impression of this restaurant was very positive. The atmosphere is beautiful-modern, stylish, & comfortable. Unfortunately, our experience quickly went downhill once the food arrived.
We visited on a Sunday evening, & while I'm not sure if the kitchen staff changes throughout the week, my husband has a background in cooking & immediately commented that the kitchen appeared to be run by very inexperienced cooks. Unfortunately, the food reflected that impression.
I ordered the steak, & it was incredibly tough & lacked even basic seasoning. Cutting through it felt like a workout for both my arms & my jaw. The rest of our meal was equally disappointing. Nearly every dish was overwhelmingly salty & borderline inedible. The shrimp were overcooked & rubbery, while the filet mignon was under-seasoned-which was almost ironic considering how salty everything else was.
The lack of experience in the kitchen also seemed evident in the timing. The restaurant was fairly quiet, yet our meals took an unusually long time to arrive. We had to ask our server a couple of times if our food was on the way. From his responses & body language, it was clear he was frustrated with what was happening in the kitchen-not with us. When I mentioned the toughness & lack of flavour of my steak, he was genuinely apologetic.
I can't fault our server. The issues were clearly beyond his control, & he did everything he could to accommodate us & make sure we left as satisfied as possible. His professionalism was one of the few highlights of the evening.
We've eaten at many steakhouses across North America & have even had better steaks at restaurants that don't specialize in steak. That's what made this experience so disappointing. For a restaurant that heavily promotes its steaks on social media, being served a steak with the texture of a hockey puck was a huge letdown.
It's unfortunate because Houston's is a beautiful restaurant, & based on all the positive reviews, we were genuinely excited to try it. We had been looking forward to coming back & trying more items on the menu, but after this experience, we won't be returning.
The restaurant looked nice inside & out! The food was not the best taste-to-price ratio (mushroom soop).
For a few entree meals although I wish the menu was a bit more flexible with the price. Overall really nice place to eat, steak was nice!!! Service was great !, tips were 6$ pre-added.
This was my second visit, & once again Houston delivered an exceptional dining experience. A huge thank you to Dalia, who provided warm, attentive, & professional service that made the evening even more enjoyable.
We started with the Wagyu dumplings, which were absolutely delicious & packed with flavor. The small seafood platter was beautifully presented & offered a great variety. The oysters were impressively large & incredibly fresh, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, & the sashimi was fresh, flavorful, & high quality. While the lobster tail was a bit bland on its own, the overall seafood experience was excellent.
One of the standout dishes of the evening was the truffle & lobster mac & cheese: rich, creamy, & absolutely irresistible. The lamb was cooked beautifully & was another highlight of the meal.
The cocktails were equally impressive. From the margarita to the Houston Spritz & martini, every drink was crafted consistently & with care. It's refreshing to find a restaurant that maintains such high standards across both food & beverages.
After two visits, I can confidently say Houston has earned a place among my favorite restaurants. Exceptional service, consistently great cocktails, fresh seafood, & memorable dishes make it a restaurant I look forward to returning to again & again. Highly recommended!
From Dj Iggy's vibes to Leanne's great menu suggestions at the bar... everything was flawless. & it was especially nice to see that Adel's hospitality has not changed along the years. The most professional & top tier service. In the city. Houston's lucky to have you !
I was disappointed with my recent visit. When making my reservation online, I clearly indicated that we would need a high chair. At no point before our arrival was I informed that the restaurant does not provide high chairs.
Unfortunately, this was for my birthday celebration, so arriving & finding out that our request could not be accommodated put a damper on what was supposed to be a special occasion. Had we been notified in advance, we could have made other arrangements or chosen a different restaurant.
The issue wasn't just the lack of a high chair-it was the lack of communication. I hope the restaurant improves its reservation process & informs guests ahead of time when requested accommodations are unavailable.
