The restaurant Helena team welcomes you in a warm, colourful and modern atmosphere, where you are invited to share and enjoy a delicious meal in good company. An unforgettable experience that allows you to discover all the refinement of Portuguese cuisine and wines for a lunch or an evening out, whether with a group or family, for a couple’s night out, or to talk business. Had their signature octopus entree, it was so charred from the grill it tasted burnt along with being dried & tough lacking in flavour. I politely mentioned this to the server when asked if everything was ok. He quickly apologized & replaced it with another one. The second one was slightly warm with the underneath cold,also very mushy & tasted as if it had been boiled which I know that's how they tenderize it but was basically tasteless. My starter was the filet mignon carpaccio, which was overwhelmed with out of date anchovies. I've had theses dishes in other restaurants but theses dishes were a huge disappointment especially when you pay such high prices you expect quality & fresh ingredients. Our group recently had the pleasure of dining at Helena in Old Montreal, & it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. What truly set Helena apart was the impeccable service. The staff were incredibly attentive, welcoming, & remarkably flexible with our various requests, making us feel completely catered to throughout the evening.
The food itself was a highlight. Every dish showcased super fresh ingredients, & the seasoning was simply perfect - enhancing the natural flavors without overpowering them. A must try is the Octopus or the seasonal Asparagus (or both).
If you're looking for a restaurant in Montreal that combines exceptional, accommodating service with delicious, fresh, & perfectly seasoned food, Helena is an absolute must-try. We all left thoroughly impressed & wholeheartedly recommend it! We'll definitely be back.View more

I find it hard to suggest an outstanding 5 star review for any fine dining establishment as there always seems to be something missing to deserve such a strong accolade. Our experience at Helena's for a key industry retirement dinner couldn't have been at a better place. Michelle looked after us for the evening & did an absolutely beautiful job suggesting dishes & meeting our needs. The food was exquisite & the wine selection perfect. Helena's definitely is in our top 5 restaurants Coast to Coast. Thank you for such a great night....we'll be back for sure!

Was there on a lovely date, late Friday march 28 2025 evening, had a charming experience with hardly anyone in restaurant making it very pleasant & relaxing, waitress was friendly, polite & nice with us, I think her name was Michelle, food was excellent , we drank porto wine together & had a great time. Since it was my first time in Montreal, this restaurant indeed contributed to one of many memorable moments there for a weekendView more

Pour mon anniversaire, nous avons formé un petit groupe de 17 personnes & j'ai choisi le restaurant portugais Helena.
Nous avons été agréablement surpris : le restaurant est magnifique, décoré avec goût. Absolument rien à redire sur la nourriture, tout était parfait ! & que dire de la gentillesse du personnel ? Juste wow, le meilleur service que nous ayons eu ! D'habitude, lorsque nous sortons en groupe, nous avons une limite de deux heures pour manger, mais cette fois-ci, nous ne nous sommes jamais sentis pressés de partir, bien au contraire.
Nous sommes de vrais foodies, & il est rare qu'un restaurant réussisse à satisfaire tout le groupe, mais Helena a relevé le défi haut la main ! Une expérience exceptionnelle du début à la fin.
Un grand merci au personnel pour avoir fait de cet anniversaire une soirée mémorable. Une note parfaite !
