My wife & I & friends had dinner here last night & it was a very good experience. My wife & I started out with a heirloom tomato salad & Sorrento Ham which was fantastic. For dinner my wife had the fillet steak cooked medium rare with a truffle potato for the side. Perfectly cooked & delicious. I got the pork belly & it was less than I hoped for, pretty much disappointing. The service was outstanding as was the atmosphere. Our friends had the pork belly & she said it was fine & my buddy had the Sea-bass filleted table side & he said it was outstanding. I wouldn't let my pork belly experience stop you from dining here.
Great service & delicious food. The tapas were amazing. We had squid stuffed with chorizo & grilled octopus that were bursting with flavor & cooked perfectly. The pork belly & clams was outstanding & the sea bass was filleted at the table. Great presentation.
What an incredible experience at Helena! From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed.
Our waitress, Sarah, was absolutely outstanding. It's hard to believe she's only been there for a month because she handled everything with such confidence, professionalism, & warmth. She seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even had to ask, & her friendly personality made our evening so much fun. We truly hope she's still there when we return to Montreal next year!
I'd also like to recognize the entire team. A special thank you to Gaston, Robert, & one of the owners, who took the time to introduce himself & made us feel like valued guests. & a huge shout-out to everyone working on the kitchen line. Every dish was beautifully prepared, & you could tell there is real pride & teamwork behind this restaurant.
Wonderful food, exceptional hospitality, & an unforgettable evening. Helena was one of the highlights of our trip to Montreal, & we can't wait to come back.
Outstanding experience ! Felt like I was back in Portugal. The fish were fresh (Seabass) & the starters were absolutely delicious (Grilled octopus & Asparagus salad)
They have a great wine selection & the staff was very kind & professional.
Went here for a birthday dinner. It was my pick because I love Portuguese food & often make some of the dishes at home.
The food & service were outstanding. It is tapas style so we ordered several dishes to share, wine, & dessert. Every dish came out so well plated, down to the smallest detail. The octopus was pure perfection & the port wine tasting on the dessert menu is not to be missed. The caldo verde soup is one of my favoritea to make at home & did not disappoint.
The interior was authentic Portugal & interesting. The service was so well timed that it felt choreographed. I can't wait to come back.
An exceptional experience at Helena!
We had an outstanding dinner for MTLàTABLE - the menu was exquisite from start to finish. The service was impeccable, with a genuine attention to detail that made the whole evening special.
I especially loved the salad & the octopus - both perfectly prepared & full of flavor. The duck was excellent, but the cod truly stole the show - tender, flavorful, & beautifully presented.
For dessert, the nata came with cinnamon, which wasn't quite to my taste, & the rum cake had a bit too strong of a rum essence for me. Still, the overall experience was truly top-level - a refined & memorable evening that I would gladly repeat!
Recently visited & did the Chef's tasting menu. The entire experience was outstanding. Unique & delicious meal. Service was friendly & efficient. Would definitely recommend Helena!
An excellent culinary experience. Service was outstanding. Very nice atmosphere. We went for our wedding anniversary & enjoyed the food very much. We had the halibut, the sea bass & the bacalau. Highly recommended. We are looking forward to goig nack.
We had an absolutely fantastic dinner at Helena last night. We started with the'Lulas & Camarao Grelhado Huge' as an appetizer &, on recommendation from our waiter Michelle, we also ordered their bread, which was a perfect pairing for soaking up all the deliciousness.
For our main course, we had the'Lulas & Camarao Grelhado' & the'Arroz com Trufas.' Another home run, paired with a fantastic wine selected by Michelle.
We finished the evening by sharing Helena's Chocolate Bites. It was an all-around perfect evening, made even better by the outstanding staff, both front & back of house.

Our group recently had the pleasure of dining at Helena in Old Montreal, & it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. What truly set Helena apart was the impeccable service. The staff were incredibly attentive, welcoming, & remarkably flexible with our various requests, making us feel completely catered to throughout the evening.
The food itself was a highlight. Every dish showcased super fresh ingredients, & the seasoning was simply perfect - enhancing the natural flavors without overpowering them. A must try is the Octopus or the seasonal Asparagus (or both).
If you're looking for a restaurant in Montreal that combines exceptional, accommodating service with delicious, fresh, & perfectly seasoned food, Helena is an absolute must-try. We all left thoroughly impressed & wholeheartedly recommend it! We'll definitely be back.
