Review Summary

Ganges offers authentic Indian cuisine with rich, flavorful dishes such as lamb dansak, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, shrimp balacho, bhaji eggplant, along with staples like papadum, naan and rice, all described as delicious and well prepared with flexible heat levels. Service is consistently friendly, professional and attentive, making dining smooth with no waiting for a table and a welcoming, family like atmosphere. The restaurant is regarded as a Montreal staple with reasonable prices and a bring your own wine option, and some reviews mention complimentary dates and small appetizers arriving before the meal. Decor is simple and a bit outdated but paired with cultural artifacts that give the place character, and the overall vibe remains warm and suitable for groups or gatherings. Patrons express decades of loyalty and rate this as among the best Indian dining in the city, often noting the bold flavours and dependable quality that keep them coming back.

I ordered the beef vindaloo & received a flavourful dish with plenty of heat. Good rice & naan as well.

My server, Raju, was attentive, welcoming, & friendly.

The dining area itself was spacious, clean, & comfortable. The the food arrived quickly & well-made.

The BYOB policy makes this restaurant more convenient than other Indian / South-Asian locations in the NDG area. Especially for those groups looking to dine & drink on a budget while not sacrificing culinary quality.

I will be back, looking forward to partaking in another vindaloo soon!

Raju was our waiter. He is pleasant, professional, engaged & prompt.

The food was the best Indian I have ever had.

Rich, robust, fresh, very flavourful, hot (temperature) & delicious. Sweet if you want with no burn, as you choose.

Lamb, butter chicken, papadum, Naan, rice, ALL excellent.

No wonder they've been there for 40+ years.

Simple outdated decor but a number of cool cultural artifacts as decoration. I'd go there to get that food if it was in the alley behind the place.
5 star food experience. Completely worth the reasonable prices.

This restaurant is a Montreal staple & has the most flavourful dishes. We tried the lamb dansak & it so tasty & was our favourite dish. Our server Raju was phenomenal. Cannot wait to come back again.

Wonderful flavourful food & great service. Raju was our amazing waiter & definitely added to the night with his attentiveness & charisma. Would recommend the Lamb Rogan Josh! Also one of the softest & fluffiest Naan I've ever had
