I called 10min before asked if terrace seating availability. & told them we were in construction cloths. They not only accepted us with welcome feeling but sat us down on the terrace. Food was unbelievably delicious. The chicken, the shrimp. Dessert. still makes my mouth water thinking about it. Great experience. In & out perfect for lunch. Thank you to are waiter Louis
We were looking forward to this one! Pork & chorizo were excellent. However, the chicken was dry, bland, overcooked. Fries were great.
No drinks menu, so when the bill came I was surprise to see they actually charge 15$ for a glass of white wine (The bottle was a Catarina, the bottle is 15$ at the SAQ).
The service was disappointing - two overworked waiters were constantly running around, clearly stressed. They were kind, but they couldn't take the time to give the service you'd expect. Owner seemed very friendly.
So yes, overall I get that this is a popular spot but I can't say I recommend it.

We got to try a bit of everything at Galo by ordering the Grillade de Viande-a great choice for sharing. The waiter suggested adding lamb to the platter, which was a nice option. All the meats were well-grilled & tasty. The staff was friendly, even though they were clearly busy (which makes sense on a Friday night). Overall, a solid spot for Portuguese barbecue.
Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The service from Luis was absolutely amazing - he was attentive, friendly, & made excellent recommendations that truly elevated our meal. Everything we tried was delicious, & Luis made us feel so welcome. We'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
The food is awesome. It is a really nice friendly place. The atmosphere wasn't really there. It felt like a place to eat & have a conversation, even if with noone but the staff. No music whatsoever but was calm enough. The chicken & the calamari tasted great but it took a bit of time before we got the food.

This is a lovely neighborhood spot for families. I love the atmosphere with little kids, grandparents & everyone in between & the staff are very friendly.
We had a wonderful waitress (in training). Wonderful little spot & kind owner. The one who was training her however needs to learn some manners, she is rude, gets irritated at a simple question

Omg so delicious! Best chorizo & bifana ever & I do lots of restaurants! Definitely take the meat plate! Also they have beer from Madeira the Coral. It's a must

Llegue a buscar mi pedido y fueron muy amables. La comida bien servida y rica.

The service was excellent until the bill was paid. The server rudely complained that the tip was not enough & demanded more. The tip was 15%. The garlic shrimp was dry. The calamari was also overcooked. The croquettes were delicious. The dishes were well overpriced for the quality & quantity received. Not much of a beverage selection.

Amazing Portuguese food! I'm visiting this place for years now, it's a hidden gem in Mount Royal. The food, the service & the selction of imported Portuguese wines are the reasons why you should go to Galo. You should also come here in the summer to enjoy the tables outside if you can.
Excellent restaurant portugais! Ambiance chaleureuse & très agréable. Cuisine typique délicieuse & service attentionnée. Je vous recommande sans hésiter! :)
