This is my first time eating afghan food & it was delicious, I will definitely come back. Also, the owner is so sweet with us, the experience is really good! I highly recommend people to try! 😍
This restaurant is criminally underrated & one of the best kept secrets in Montreal. My group of friends has come here two years in a row for our holiday dinner, & both times we were accommodated in the private room at the back at no extra cost. They even provided a speaker to hook up our own music. For the meal, we went with the table d'hôte, for which there are two options (one at $39.95 & one at $49.95). Both options come with an appetizer, main, dessert & Afghani tea, however the more expensive meal includes a larger selection of appetizers & additional main courses. You cannot go wrong, but I highly recommend paying the additional cost so that you can have the manto or ashak as your appetizer. I picked the chabli kabob as my main which had the perfect level of juiciness & spice, & came with deliciously aromatic sides (ride & salad). The portions are very generous & it's possible you'll leave with some to bring home. For dessert, I had the baklava which was perfectly flaky & syrupy. All in all, I find it rare to get food of this quality & quantity at this price point in Montreal, plus it is BYOW so you save a ton of money on drinks. I didn't even mention how incredible the service is. The staff are all so gracious & kind. I would not hesitate to return to this restaurant!
Great Afghan restaurant. The mantos & the meats are delicious. Having some persian blood, I love their traditional cooking: it has a lot of points in common. The rice is perfectly cooked everytime. The staff is attentive & responsive. A great experience at every visit. I highly recommend!

Derrière les murs discrets de la rue Rachel Est se cache un véritable trésor : Fenêtre sur Kaboul, un restaurant pas comme les autres. & surtout, une femme exceptionnelle : Nila, la cheffe & l'âme du lieu.
Dès qu'on entre, on sent que ce restaurant est une extension de son histoire. Les tapis, les objets traditionnels, la musique douce - chaque détail raconte un morceau d'Afghanistan. & quand les plats arrivent, le voyage prend tout son sens.
La cuisine de Nila est authentique, généreuse, profondément humaine. Ce n'est pas seulement bon, c'est touchant. J'ai goûté un Qabuli Palow absolument parfait - le riz délicatement parfumé, les amandes, les raisins… c'est un plat simple en apparence, mais qui dégage une profondeur incroyable. On sent l'amour, les souvenirs, & la fierté de transmettre une culture à travers la nourriture.
Les Ashak, ces raviolis afghans aux poireaux & à la coriandre, sont tout aussi savoureux, servis avec une sauce au yogourt maison & une touche de viande hachée épicée. Un équilibre de saveurs qui reste en mémoire.
& Nila… Quelle femme. Présente, attentive, humble. Elle passe en salle, s'assure que tout va bien, discute avec douceur. On n'a pas l'impression d'être'au restaurant', on a l'impression d'être invité chez elle.
Ajoutez à cela un service simple mais sincère, une ambiance chaleureuse, & la possibilité d'apportez votre vin - & vous avez là l'un des secrets les mieux gardés du Plateau.

Going to be dreaming of this food for weeks… The food, the service, the hospitality & the authentic Afghan food are second to none at Fenetres sur Kaboul. You can truly feel the soul of the restaurant through the perfectly seasoned meals & through the wonderful staff. I could really feel the warmth & tradition throughout the whole dining experience. Could not recommend more!
On hésitait à y aller parce qu'on avait lu des commentaires qui disaient que le service était lent, mais franchement ça n'était vraiment pas le cas!!! On avait une réservation pour 19:30, & à 20:45 on avait terminé, le service était très bien & les plats délicieux, surtout les raviolis afghans & l'agneau. Je recommande vivement ce restaurant!!
Très bonne découverte, la nourriture était excellente & les portions généreuses. Nous avons prit l'agneau qui était très goûtu! L'hôte est très sympathique & la décoration authentique, tout droit venu d'Afghanistan! On a l'impression d'être dans un salon d'une famille afghane. Merci beaucoup pour l'expérience!
Beau intérieur, avec une petite décoration qui rappelle la culture afghane. Les plats que nous avions pris étaient bon, la viande était bien cuite. Le seul bémol c'était l'attente, nous avions attendu presque 1h pour recevoir nos plats.

Amazing afghan food! I recommend going there to taste new cuisine & getting to know better afghan cuisine! The service is good & you can bring your own wine & celebrate with friends!
This is such a good restaurant ! Not only for the excellent tasty & original food from Afghanistan but the atmosphere & the love that the host, cook & owner gives to her clients. If you come to Montreal you have to stop at this outstanding restaurant. Vegetarian options are delicious! Don't leave without dessert! Bring your own wine :) which is always a very nice option here in Montreal!
Une première expérience pour moi...lorsque nous sommes arrivés nous étions déçu de voir la porte extérieur du restaurant...tout ressemblais à un endroit des plus ordinaire, mais une fois entrer dans le restaurant, l'ambiance était bien & le restaurant charmant avec une déco qui nous tranporte en Afghanistan dans un restaurant de charme. Tout était parfait pour passer un excellente soirée. Le service a été impecable & le serveur très avenant. Pour ma part, j'ai pris le menu table d'hôte qui comprenais un entré, le repas & un dessert pour 49$ . Nous avons apporté notre vin & tous était satisfaits de leurs repas. Les aliments étaient très frais & délicieux. Dans l'ensemble nous avons passé une très belle soirée !👌👍
Really beautiful place & delicious food! The service was slow because there was only 2 servers for the whole restaurant but overall the food made up for it. Not many vegetarian options but the one I got was delicious either way! Everything tasted fresh, I'm really glad we took the chance on a new restaurant! It was the perfect introduction to Afghan food. Would recommend! But patient when you go.
