Oh man, where do I start hahaha? There are restaurants, then, there are pasta stores, & then, there is Etna.
We moved to this neighborhood in July 2025. Having lived in Rome, Italy for the past 10 years, we were looking for a place that would resemble a real Italian Pastificio (fresh pasta store). & oh man, did we find one :)
Etna-by far-is the best place (not only in Villeray district) in town for fresh, homemade pasta. Not only can you buy pasta by weight & cook it at home, but you can also have a wonderful lunch on the spot. Prepared by Claudia & Sergio - the owners. Lunchtime though, you have to be there early, cause it's extremely popular in the hood, & places are limited.
I strongly recommend following Etna on Instagram to stay up to date with daily specials.
Whether you're an omnivore, vegetarian or vegan, there's always something for you. Ragu, pesto, focaccia, tiramisu, wine, awesome company, service... Mamma mia! Don't wait! Look them up & try them, you won't regret it.

Local on venen pasta fresca feta per ells, més tots els ingredients que necessitis per fer el teu plat. Si no tens temps o ganes, també pots comprar les salses fetes.
Vam tenir la sort d'arribar just a les 13:59 per poder dinar allà mateix, vam provar els 4 plats de la carta i eren tots ESPECTACULARS, feia temps que no trobava un lloc on fessin tant bé la pasta!
A més, la parella propietaria són absolutament encantadors, acabant de fer l'experiència genial.

we had such a wonderful time at Etna. my wife & I went for lunch there with our 8 month old baby. the pasta was delicious & the owners were super friendly & welcoming. very good vibes! we can't wait to go back! highly recommended
You can feel the love in every bite at Pastificio Etna. The pasta is clearly handmade with care - soft, silky, & full of soul. It tastes like something straight out of Italy . Watching them craft it fresh right in front of you makes the whole experience even better. Simple, honest, & absolutely unforgettable.
Etna is a charming, low-key, humble pasta shop that specializes in home-made, high quality pastas. You can buy them fresh by the kilogram or opt for frozen options as well. They are a bit pricey but the quality is top notch! My favourite is their lunch service where they serve cooked pasta with their selected menu & they always have a special dish of the week. However, the lunch service only operates for 2 hours from 12-2 pm on Monday-Friday which makes it extremely difficult to dine there when you're working 🥲. The seating area is quite limited & it can feel quite cramped as well. This is the reason I took off one star for that however, if you're on vacation & live in the area, the lunch service is absolutely amazing & delicious!
This pasta shop mainly sells fresh handmade pasta, but it offers a cooked menu in-store during weekdays at noon, serving lunch for only 2 hours, making it quite a challenge to get😂
I ordered the meat pasta & pesto pasta. The taste is really close to that of local Italian cuisine! (The first & third items on the menu in picture four)
The portion of pasta is not too large, & the accompanying sauce doesn't have an excessive amount of cheese, avoiding greasiness. Although the dining environment isn't very fancy, the overall cleanliness & service are quite good 😌
There are red wines available in the shop, which you can order by the glass or buy a whole bottle.
what a delicious meal! service was amazing too, helped us choose the perfect ingredients for a nice dinner to be made at home. you can really feel the passion they put into the business. i only wish we lived in the city so we could always get our pasta from here! look forward to coming back one day to try their lunch service 12-2pm. thank you!
I was just passing by & I saw this pasta shop... I bought some fresh mafaldine for supper, my kids & I loved it, amazing taste & texture! Highly recommend you try it 😋
Heard about this place & decided to walk in & see what the buzz was about. Claudia was extremely helpful in helping us pick which pasta & sauce would go well together. Had the balanzoni with Al limone sauce & I must say it might be one of the best pastas I've ever had. Highly recommend if you're looking for fresh homemade pasta & sauces.
The freshest pasta I've had in ages. Delicious sauces, excellent organic wines. All at great prices. Just a tiny shop but the decor & huge windows to enjoy passers-by added to the fun. Great staff! All women?
Absolute little gem! Delicious well-made pastas to cook at home or dine-in for lunch, & great wine & cider selection (one of the only storefronts you can buy Revel cider in Montreal). My favourite pastificio in the city, give them a visit!
