The kitchen prioritizes bold spice profiles and traditional preparation methods that define island cuisine. Every dish features meats cooked over high-heat grills to achieve a distinct charred exterior while maintaining interior succulence. The menu emphasizes protein-forward plates accompanied by foundational sides that provide a balanced texture and flavor profile. Patrons find an environment centered on functionality and direct service. The preparation emphasizes consistency in seasoning, drawing heavily from regional spice blends that highlight peppers, garlic, and aromatic herbs. This establishment serves as a vital resource for those seeking robust Caribbean flavors prepared with technical precision and a commitment to the foundational elements of grill-based cooking.

Review Summary

Épicerie Costa is widely celebrated for its extremely generous portions and consistent value, with many patrons highlighting the high quality and authentic taste of the griot and other traditional dishes. Most customers are delighted by the frequent inclusion of complimentary items such as drinks, desserts, and spring rolls, which makes the ordering experience feel rewarding. While a large majority of feedback is enthusiastic and praises the restaurant as a top destination for Haitian cuisine in Montreal, a few negative experiences report inconsistencies in order accuracy, missing items during promotions, and occasional dissatisfaction with food quality or flavor profiles.

Came here after buying the 2x1 on Uber Eats. It's asbolutly worth the price!!! Im not haitian so i cant comment on the true haitian taste but i can say that i personally liked it very muuuch! Asked for the spicy Shrimp! So Many extras, very generous, worth the price i REPEAT, specially for a 2x1. Wish i could thank the chef personally, thanks

This place is generous with portions, but for me, quality beats quantity. The food didn't feel like Haitian cuisine- the rice was dry & tasted like Chinese fried rice, & the mac & cheese had a processed Kraft flavor. I ordered griot dinde, which was dry & came with tiny pieces of meat. It also came with fried egg rolls (which were actually the best part?) & mayo, which was odd since I've never had griot with such sides. A spoonful of coleslaw in a tiny sauce cup just added to the randomness. Overall, great portions, but the flavors were not present.
