Diners describe El Sabor de Mexico as a warm, welcoming spot with authentic Mexican flavors. The menu shines with ceviche, tacos, fajitas and other classics, praised for fresh ingredients, bold seasoning and generous presentation. Drinks, especially the margaritas and house cocktails, are frequently highlighted as standouts that pair beautifully with the food, and the atmosphere and attentive service add to the overall enjoyable experience. Overall, the reviews portray a reliable, affordable favorite with a friendly staff and a true Mexican dining vibe, while a few notes mention that portions can be small for the price or that crowds can be lively at peak times.
By far the best Mexican food I've had in Montreal. The Tamarind Margarita was amazing & again definitely a favorite. Everything we were served was a 10/10 & special thank you to owner Roberto who was an amazing host. We loved our experience & will definitely make this a regular spot.
Absolutely loved this spot! The tacos & homemade Mexican dishes were bursting with flavor , super fresh & authentic. The drinks? Amazing. You can really tell they put care into every detail. The owner is so cool & welcoming, & the waitress Marino gave us incredible service , super kind & attentive. You can feel the good vibes as soon as you walk in. Can't wait to go back!
Great ambiance, the service is fantastic, staff is super friendly & attentive. The food is not your run of the mill fast-food Mexican...it is flavorful & delicious with a beautiful presentation.
We were feeling like some good Mexican food & I had heard about this place in Verdun. I can confirm it is a gem.
The food was delicious & hit all the right Mexican flavor notes we were craving. We ordered nachos as an appetizer, which came with a generous amount of cheese. Very tasty. The main courses were even better of course. The enchiladas were sublime. Definitely take them with the green sauce. There's fresh Mexican cheese & sour cream on top. The medley is mouth watering. The fajitas & other dishes we ordered were also delicious. Everyone enjoyed their food. The best part is that it is all fairly affordable.
Service was quick & the waiter was friendly. The atmosphere is cozy & the lighting was just right. We went on a Thursday evening before a holiday & it was also not too noisy, though the restaurant wasn't completely full.
Would definitely come back & would highly recommend!
I go out regularly with different friends from different groups to explore Montreal's restaurant scene, & this Mexican gem in Verdun was a real treat. The flavors were bold & authentic, & the overall ambiance had a relaxed, welcoming vibe.
The service was exceptional-attentive without being overbearing-& they were very accommodating to my party. While their selection of tequilas & mezcals isn't the largest I've seen, what they do have is well-chosen & definitely worth a try.
All in all, a great spot I'd be happy to return to. Kudos to the team for delivering a great night out!

Flavorful, delicious, authentic mexican restaurant!
The ingredients are fresh, & the preparation of the dishes are just perfectly authentic. The taste of the barbacoa tacos is really similar to the one in Mexico.
The drinks are really good & taste amazingly. Plus, the desserts are delicious.
Definitely recommended!
My only comment is that the waiters were rushing us out.
Amazing authentic Mexican restaurant in Verdun! Both drinks & the food were amazing. We were happily impressed by the ceviche, & their tacos (especially the lamb ones) are to die for. Of course we got margaritas & they did not disappoint!
Great authentic Mexican restaurant in Verdun. Drinks are flavourful, highly recommend trying the Paloma & the Sweet Anita Sour. Service/staff very friendly. Food was yummy, especially the Al Pastor tacos. The guacamole was very tasty as well. Will go back!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Sabor de México to celebrate my birthday, & I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was warm & inviting, even having English menus, setting the tone for a fantastic evening! We started with the chef's special, which consisted of perfectly crispy mini chicken taquitos. They were a delightful introduction to the meal, offering a blend of textures & bold flavors. Next, we savored their citrus-fresh ceviche, which was light, zesty, & bursting with freshness-a true testament to the kitchen's mastery of balance. For the main course, we decided to share a variety of their entrees, & while everything was outstanding, the Tacos de Birria were hands-down my favorite! The tender meat, flavorful consommé, & perfectly spiced toppings were a match made in culinary heaven. To complement the feast, we enjoyed their mojitos, which were some of the freshest I've ever had. Overall, the food was vibrant, authentic, & full of personality. Whether it's for a special occasion or simply to indulge in incredible Mexican cuisine, El Sabor de México is a must-visit. I can't wait to return!

Very cozy & great mexican place to visit with friends or for a romantic dinner. Tastes like in Mexico. Prices are fair for the quality. Good selection of dishes. Tried Taccos de Birria, Fajitas & Quesso Ranchero. Very good. Worth it
1. You pay a lot for what you get 🙁 2. Mojitos can not be admired, savored nor enjoyed when in clay pots 3. Not enough salsa/sour cream/beans to put in the fajitas & no way to get it out of the ridiculously small SQUARE presentation 3 section dish they put it in. Try round bowls... & maybe a spoon or two? Come on guys. This is not a bad place but, a few things can definitely be improved. Everything listed above & add shrimp tacos to your repertoire & I mean soft shell tacos. I am sure El Sabor will benefit from being on "the hippest street in North America" for a good long time... but this place needs to step it up a bit to be one of the greatest Mexican restaurants in the area.
Great Mexican restaurant 🤩 loved the cactus salad, very refreshing. The porc tacos are yummy 😋 the margarita is one of the best I had. Loved the dessert tres leches, fresh & delicious 🤠 very good service 😁
