About

Dak Hing Barbecue specializes in the authentic preparation of Cantonese-style roasted meats that anchor its traditional culinary repertoire. The menu centers on meticulously glazed roast duck, crispy pork belly, and honey-infused barbecued pork, each prepared using time-honored roasting techniques. These proteins are served with precision, often accompanied by steamed rice or tossed noodles to highlight the savory profiles of the house-made marinades. Patrons observe rows of succulent meats hanging prominently, signaling a commitment to freshness and consistent quality throughout the day. The establishment maintains a focused approach, prioritizing the balance of fat and lean textures in every portion of char siu or crackling skin. This dedication to specific Chinese barbecue traditions ensures that every plate reflects the foundational flavors expected of a classic, no-nonsense meat-centric eatery.

I'm from Toronto so the Chinese BBQ benchmark is high. This place hits the spot, & they're so friendly.

There are not that many traditional Chinese BBQ rotisserie left in the city, which makes this place even better than it is. Every meat is perfectly roasted & seasoned. The BBQ pork is classic & perfect balance of lean/fat ratio & sweet taste. A boxed rice meal will set you back 10-15$ depending on meat & the portion might last you two meals. Amazing spot that everyone needs to make a specific trip to try

Great quality Chinese food. I came here expecting a filling meal for a low price & I got one. Don't miss out on the sticky rice & bbq pork. Just be mindful the roasted duck has many bones which was pesky to eat but it was very fatty & juicy. Workers were very nice & were patient with me trying to e transfer since it is cash only & no seating only takeout. Definitely coming back here again. 9/10

I went to Dak Hing Barbecue because it was supposed to have the best Chinese BBQ in Montreal. The restaurant is a small hole in the wall place near Plamondon Metro station. The service is friendly & I ordered my usual soy sauce chicken along with roast pork. Not the best Chinese BBQ I have eaten, but it was pretty good for Montreal.

Let's be clear here, this is not an eat in place it's for take outs hence one star for atmosphere.
Service is very nice & accommodating & prompt as you are in a line.
Food is excellent & fresh.
They sell by the pound as well as lunch combos.

Let's break this down. I've eaten here for years with 100% consistency. I have never been let down.

Unless you go to Chinatown or other distant old school Chinese places this one of the authentic & reasonably priced delicious places to get this type of cuisine.
Lunch time people come in non stop to get food to bring home & eat lunch - like I did in the car.

So, they have pork sausage, duck, wings, & then pork ribs & pork from various parts of the body - you select what you want.

I have tried all & they are all yummy, but for me the absolute delight is the crispy pork with that crunchy skin & tender meet. They give you a dip but it really does not need any other flavouring.

Try it & you'll fall in love with this no nonsense place that serves honest to goodness home made food at adorable prices.

Best Chinese BBQ in Montreal

Montrealers typically say: Go to Toronto for good Chinese food. I generally agree except for Dak Hing. Everything is authentic, delicious, & even better than the best that I've had across the GTA. It's obvious everything is thoughtfully & craftfully made when they source their meat from local farms. We have never been disappointed here. Their ??? (taro cake) for the Lunar New Year is THE best. (We order in advance - they are so popular!) We enjoy their ? (zongzi) during the Dragonboat festival too. Dak Hing keeps me connected to my roots & I appreciate their hard work so much.

Good roasted pork & BBQ duck. Fairly juicy & tender. We especially like their BBQ duck, which is not overly salty, well balanced. There isn't much to say except for good Chinese BBQ stuff! Probably slightly better than the ones you can get from Chinatown.
