Review Summary

Cocodak is widely praised for tasty and authentic Korean dishes, with standout fried chicken, dumplings, bibimbap, bossam, jaeyuk, and dwaeji gomtang, plus generous portions across a broad menu. The yogurt soju is frequently recommended and the kimchi and side dishes are highlighted as especially good. Service is described as friendly and patient, with staff helpful about allergies and even when language barriers arise. The atmosphere tends to be welcoming and casual, sometimes described as student friendly, though a few comments note the space is not the nicest or cleanest. Prices are regarded as a good value by many, while others find certain items a bit pricey. A brunch menu is offered on weekends and is well received, though it is limited compared to the regular dinner lineup. Some reviews mention a drop in food quality compared to earlier visits, but most dishes are still rated delicious, savory, and well prepared. Overall, Cocodak comes across as a reliable, family run spot and a hidden gem for Korean flavors that delivers strong, comforting meals even as a few aspects could improve.

Amazing Korean fried chicken in downtown. Loved the spicy Korean fried chicken, although it was not spicy at all it was more sweet. We did ask for extra spicy but it's fine it was still really good. The breading layer was thing & the chicken was really juicy, would go again for sure. We also had the beef galbi plate from the sharing section. It was a bit pricier but worth the price. It has a lot of beef, very generous. The flavour was as expected but it was a bit too oily to my liking. Overall solid place, would go again for the fried chicken & discover something new on the menu.

I ordered a bibimbap, a seafood pancake, & sweet-spicy fried chicken.
All there were served quickly within 10 mins, & were very delicious!

The bibimbap was savory & fresh.

The seafood pancake was crunchy, not oily, the shrimp & octopus slices were perfectly cooked but tender.

The fried chicken had a leg piece, wings & breasts. All 4 pieces were crunchy, the sauce was great & not too salty, the meat was very tender on all pieces.

Everything including the free appetizers (kimchi, etc.) were perfect. My complements to the great chefs!

Came here on a Friday around 18:30. Some patrons already eating, plenty of room still. Staff was nice, answered questions, managed an allergy to shellfish among some in our party. All pleasant to interact with. When asked How spicy is the Sweet & Spicy Chicken, the staffer answered 3/10-& that was quite accurate in hindsight. It'd be appreciated that healthier non-alcoholic drink options be offered (& not only the 2 high sugar beverages on the menu as of 2025/05/08).
I'll try to make it back again. Hope this review helps others!

Food at the restaurant is reasonably priced. I would not suggest ordering the pot (which includes ramen, tteokbokki, & fish cake) the only flavour I could taste in it was Gochujang. It was too sweet for me & my friends. I really liked their soy garlic chicken but the spicy chicken with cheese.

Cocodak is a place that has been on my list for a very long time & I'm sad to say,I was disappointed with my experience there. As an appetizer,we received a spicy cabbage salad & some radish...neither were enjoyable,it didn't feel like much effort was put into the appetizer. My second appetizer was some Sweet & Spicy Boneless chicken, which was also underwhelming, the inside of the chicken felt dry & overcooked, but as a consolation,I did enjoy the crispiness of the outside. My entree was Spicy Small Octopus With Rice, the flavouring that they added i the stir fry was delicious, but the baby octopus itself was rubbery & took a long time to chew. 2/5 The service we received was just okay. The staff catered to us when needed. 3/5 My experience at the restaurant wasn't very pleasant. For one,we were seated right near the door & each & every time someone opened the door, this rush of cold wind would brush against my legs & back.We then requested to move to a different table, this time the table was near the window & although the view of the snow falling on St Catherine was beautiful, our mesmerization wouldn't last long as the windows let cold air seep in again. Not to mention, the seating areas felt a little cramped,it's as if we were sitting at one table with other people. 1/5

This is a criminally underrated restaurant. Why did I say that? Because I few days ago, I was having a first date with someone & she recommended me this place to eat with. The moment I came to this restaurant & see the menu, my month is so watering that I can't pick which food should I take. So I picked this sweet/spicy fried chicked while my date picked a "odon-like" sea food option. I tried it (which we share), & it was month-watering fireworks. In other words- same saids to those fried chicken- it was delicious. All of it. The waiters, very nice & polite. I seriously recommend this place. If it ain't for my date, I wouldn't know this place. & I want to thank her for an awesome date. & thank you to the staff as well. 😌

Best Korean in town! I always order number17(sweet & spicy boneless chicken)on their menu. The sushi plate is not bad, I ordered the shrimp ones- but if you don't like fried shrimps I do not recommend. Also I had the bulgogi soup with sweet potato noodles( number41)to share which is so delicious. Overall the experience at this place is always satisfactory.

All the usual korean dishes we ordered were very tasty! The spicy fried chicken had an extra kick, gamjatang more meat & rich flavored kimchi jigae soup! Service was quick too!
