We were in Montreal for just a few days & i wanted to try out this place so I had called but unfortunately they were not taking reservations for that evening, we decided to take our chances & try walk-in & we are so glad we did. The restaurant is charming & the food was wonderful & creative. The restaurant is run by a couple I think & service was warm & friendly. Drinks were also excellent & I would absolutely recommend coming here to hang out have a drink, some snacks & enjoy a lovely evening out! Thank You :)
It was a nice discocery in the neighborhood. A perfect place for locals to look forward to their next visit. The Claire Jacques has this cosy atmosphere which make it a perfect place to go for everyday occasions. . Highly recommend if you are looking for an apéro, a light diner or a late-night snack in a place that feels homey.
Went there for a little bite in the evening with a friend. Loved the small tables & the fact that it could only welcome a few guests. it felt cozy. We were immediately greeted with menus & glasses of water, which we greatly appreciated. We both ordered a drink. The mixed drink came in a very small glass for the price, but nonetheless was very delicious. We went ahead & ordered the $34 charcuterie plate, the brussels sprouts, & the gougeres. When we ordered, we were then told that the gougeres might not be available so we said that we could maybe replace them with the focaccia. We received the brussels sprouts & the charcuterie plate together. We were quite disappointed with the charcuterie plate as most of it was half a baguette in the center. The pieces of cheese were tiny, & there was leftover bread once we were done eating it. There was a pepper jelly that was so incredibly chewy. It probably would've bounced off a wall. Minutes later, the focaccia was brought to the table. This was not focaccia. This was toasted Panini bread with not an ounce of oil or butter. Zero flavour whatsoever. We were then left with an overwhelming amount of bread. We called the waiter over who was very very diligent with refilling our water throughout the evening, but not once offered us another glass of wine or alcoholic beverage. & we mentioned that there was a lot of bread left, he had a sour look on his face so we asked if we could maybe order some ricotta to go with the bread so that we weren't left with this overwhelming amount. He brought us the $13 ricotta, that is homemade, it was good but would have tasted better over warm bread. generally, when ordering charcuterie, it doesn't come with a huge piece of bread in the center. I think the waiter could have perhaps just told us this & we wouldn't have ordered differently. Brussels sprouts were quite good & would recommend ordering those. The ricotta was nice as well. It's topped with a pesto. Was delicious but not $13 delicious. We were left with our finished plates for quite a while before they were picked up, we weren't offered the menu for dessert, which is unfortunate because we were interested in ordering, We noticed that certain tables got more attention than others & just decided we would grab dessert elsewhere, other tables were offered a little meringue as they paid, which my friend & I noticed, we got up to leave after paying, & having sat at the table for a bit & as we're about to walk out the door the waiter comes to us & offers us a meringue after he notices us having seen everybody else receive one. It was a very strange experience & I would definitely not return. I understand the cost of food has gone up but a simple honey butter or mustard to go along with the charcuterie board or a mere description of the charcuterie board on the menu could have improves the experience. We're always very kind to with restaurant staff, as we're both foodies, & my friend has worked in the restaurant business for years, it was disappointing to feel the service was quite impersonal, especially given that we chose a smaller restaurant, hoping for a cosy welcoming experience.
This place is completely amazing. Service, food. Highly recommend ❤️☺️
