Reviews often mention
chicken(12) chinese(11) fried rice(6) egg roll(5) delivery(5) egg(5) rolls(5) buffet(4) craving(4) soup(4) chow mein(3) sauce(3)Food was good but the worst réception when called back to ask about our order (took over an hour to be delivered). The rudest & most insulting lady.....when our order came sauce was everywhere in the bag. Delivery man was super nice but the lady answering the phone needs to take a few lessons in customer service. Regardless of the food....customer service is the reason we will not order there again.
We live in Dorval for over 40 years & have visited Chows at the self-serve Restaurant & ordered take-out food for several times. Today I have to write this review to warn other possible customers of how this establishment's food quality has deteriorated over the past months! Maybe there's another or new cook in the kitchen, who has been instructed to save as much money on the various ingrediences of their menu offerings. They may pass in an old age home or a hospital setting, where food is free & nobody complains - but not on paying customers - who know the difference between good Chinese food & unappetizing left-overs!
As a starter I have no complaints for the timely delivery after we ordered early in the afternoon for an evening delivery. But the food quality was much less than what we expected! Mushroom fried rice did hardly contain any mushroom at all! Then we tried the Hunan beef that was price at $17.75! There were some sliced beef strips with a huge amount of sliced onions on a brown sauce mix. Next was the Kung Poo shrimps. The 4-1/2' dia. x 3-1/2' high plastic container contained exactly 5 medium-sized shrimps & the rest was again all sliced onions & another thick brown & unappetizing sauce. I just bought an entire bag (400 grams) of larger shrimps from a delicatessen store for $12.00 that contained several times the quantity of 5-only shrimps!! & if you like onions - you can buy several bags from Maxi for less than Chows $17.25 offering. At the end a comment about the ordered egg rolls: I like them if they are crispy - but what we received was mushy & tasteless! The entire order w/ tax was close to $70.00 & went mostly to the garbage can!
We called Chow's order desk - but they had nothing to offer in compensation or solution. They basically don't care! & in the process lost us as a customer!!!!
Great Food & Great Service - although the place looks shady - it's a great value for a reasonable price
A Chows customer since June of 1985.
Tonight was the last meal I will ever order from this restaurant. Delivery took 70+ mins & I have never been served a more disgusting meal in my life.
Everything was absolutely disgusting.
- verge-of-rotten vegetables in the Kung Pow (gross)
- pre mixed Hot & Sour soup with constancy of 2 day old gravy
- cold / half cooked grocery store egg rolls
$40 & 90% of it went directly into the garbage
I've always enjoyed the food in the past, which is why this was such a letdown. Never ordering again, that is certain.
This place makes great food its at affordable price over great place ...
I only wished they would re open thier dinning area .. i miss having thier buffet there is so few left .
We did take out tonight, was so looking forward to the meal. We were horribly disappointed, food was terrible. Egg rolls were super salty, chicken was so tough & all the rest of the meal was tasteless. Got to find another restaurant unfortunately.
We made a very last minute takeout order (at around 9:10 pm) & the woman who answered the phone couldn't have been kinder. She made sure the kitchen would make our order & made sure we knew where we were heading. We got the Full Course Dinner No. 4 for two people. This included egg rolls, chicken chow mein, pineapple chicken, garlic spareribs, & chicken fried rice. This was PLENTY of food for two people. & everything was delicious! This is different than the Chinese food we are used to back in the states, but we enjoyed everything. My husband would especially like to shout out the chow mein - he said it was top notch. Definitely worth a stop if only to support the obviously wonderful people who run this spot.
Chow's Restaurant offers a menu of classic & affordable Chinese food in Montreal. The portions are healthy & their order online service is fast & friendly as usual.
Food was very good. Affordable. Hot & fresh. Fast & friendly delivery. A classic Montreal area Chinese restaurant like we used to had but now very rare. I highly recommend it. First time I was ordering there because I am new to the area. Will definitely order there again.
Did not even bothered going in as the place looked abandoned & I was told they were no longer doing buffet.
Went with friends on a Wednesday- it was closed! Closes every Wednesday then opens only for take out (pick-up) & delivery. NO INSIDE EATING anymore according to an employee that happened to be there checking on the place.
