Had a great experience at Chez Nick in Westmount. The restaurant has a charming old-school atmosphere, & knowing the building dates back to the 1920s gave it a nostalgic feel that sets it apart from many modern spots.
I ordered the chicken brochette, & it was an easy 10/10-perfectly cooked, flavorful, & satisfying. The poutine was also very good, about an 8/10, with decent portions that left me full without being overwhelming.
What really stood out was the amazing service. The staff were friendly, attentive, & made the experience even more enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for good comfort food & a bit of Westmount history.
If you are looking for a reliable & satisfying meal in Westmount, you cannot go wrong with Chez Nick. This place has maintained its high standards & cozy diner charm for decades. I recently stopped by for lunch & ordered a classic club sandwich with a side of crispy fries, & everything was incredibly fresh & tasty. The portions are very generous & the pricing is reasonable for the quality. Highly recommend to locals & tourists alike.
Chez Nick has been a staple in Westmount for over a century & it is easy to see why. The classic diner atmosphere feels incredibly nostalgic & welcoming the moment you step inside. I had theh & it was absolutely phenomenal, packed with flavor & cooked to perfection. The service is fast & the waitstaff always treats you like family. It is a must visit for anyone looking for authentic comfort food in Montreal.
this is a Westmount institution that i have recently rediscovered. i have been twice recently for breakfast & service & food is terrific, with prices in line with lesser restaurants.
Cosy little place in Westmount right beside my apartment. I like coming here because it is a down to earth place not too fancy not too crazy. Simple food, delicious meals & I like spending my afternoons over here.
This is a perfect stop for lunch during the midweek when in Westmount. It has a homey atmosphere & friendly, fast service. We had the soup of the day with Reuben sandwiches & sweet potato fries that went down very well!
If you're looking to spend your morning surrounded by the quiet hum of Westmount privilege & the scent of generational wealth, Chez Nick is the absolute pinnacle of the Montreal diner experience. I've never felt more like a character in a Mordecai Richler novel while questioning my own tax bracket.
Chez Nick has been around since 1920, & walking in feels like a time capsule-if that time capsule was meticulously maintained & filled with people who own at least three different types of cashmere.
The Coffee: Finally, a diner that doesn't serve brown-tinted water. The coffee is aggressively strong-enough to make you reconsider every life choice you've made since the 90s-yet it manages to be incredibly smooth with absolutely zero bitterness. It's the kind of caffeine kick that makes you feel productive enough to actually read the Financial Post left on the counter.
The Pancakes: I'm convinced these are actually made of edible clouds. They are impossibly fluffy & have a subtle, refined sweetness that makes maple syrup feel like an optional (but mandatory) luxury. I had to hold mine down with a fork just to keep them from drifting toward the ceiling.
The Atmosphere: Perfectly'Westmount.' You get the classic diner vibe with vinyl booths & counter seating, but with the added bonus of hearing neighbors discuss their upcoming trips to the Hamptons.
The Service: Brisk, efficient, & wonderfully unimpressed by whoever you think you are. They've been serving the city for over a century, so don't expect them to be dazzled by your presence-just enjoy your eggs & keep the line moving.
It's the only place in the city where you can pay a premium for a club sandwich & leave feeling like you've made a solid investment in your own happiness. Highly recommend if you enjoy great food & feeling slightly less wealthy than everyone else in the room.
Chez Nick has been feeding Westmount since 1920, & now it's feeding my soul (& stomach). This chicken pita might just have more history than my last relationship. 🥙🍟 #OldSchoolDelicious #WestmountEats
