About

Chez mon grand père focuses on the preparation of authentic Middle Eastern charcoal-grilled meats and traditional side dishes. The kitchen prioritizes Halal standards, ensuring every skewer of marinated chicken or tender beef kebab meets rigorous sourcing requirements. Patrons encounter a straightforward menu centered on classic staples such as creamy hummus, smoky baba ghanoush, and freshly baked pita bread served hot from the oven. The interior design prioritizes functionality, featuring an open layout that keeps the focus entirely on the aromatic output of the central grill. Each dish relies on a consistent balance of fresh herbs, garlic, and citrus to define the flavor profiles synonymous with regional culinary traditions. This establishment maintains a commitment to time-honored cooking techniques that highlight the natural qualities of quality proteins and locally sourced vegetables.

Review Summary

Chez mon grand père is frequently praised for its authentic and delicious Lebanese cuisine, with many patrons highlighting the flavorful meat, fresh salads, and traditional dishes like fatteh and manakish as highlights of their dining experience. The atmosphere is often described as warm, cozy, and family-oriented, complemented by welcoming and attentive service. While the vast majority of feedback is glowing, noting generous portions and reasonable pricing, a small number of visitors have reported inconsistent service quality and occasional dissatisfaction with food preparation or facility maintenance. Overall, the restaurant remains a highly recommended destination for those seeking a genuine taste of Mediterranean tradition in a comfortable setting.

I thought it was my imagination but after reading some other low reviews I know we're not the only ones that have been mistreated because of the way we look (some comments even say that if you're not Lebanese you're not welcome...after my visit I think that, sadly, it might be true). We were ignored for a long time & the food we got looked more like a rushed improvisation. I'm ok with dressing codes, but if they want women to be fully covered to be attended, a sign at the entrance might be very helpful. Terrible service, I'm definitely not going back.

Super restaurant!

Savoureux, bien garnis & parfaitement cuits. On sent vraiment le goût authentique & le fait maison à chaque bouchée. Une adresse que je recommande sans hésiter pour tous les amateurs de cuisine arménienne & levantine 😍

Délicieux du début à la fin !

We went for breakfast, fatteh bsamneh tastes oil on the top of it instead of gee , foul missing lemon & oil & salt & tasted less than good, the veggies & pickles are not varied enough, I went to wash room, lights are not working, toilet paper rolls are in the place but not set to be used properly, even paper towels.. it was the worse breakfast ever, we were the only customers that morning, no reason to get that bad experience.. I will never go back there again

A Morning Feast at Chez Mon Grand-père @beitjeddi_mtl. ?If you're looking for a breakfast that feels like a warm hug from a Lebanese grandfather you never knew you had, Chez Mon Grand-père in Montreal is the spot. I'm calling it now: this was easily the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Every dish felt intentional, fresh, & deeply rooted in tradition.

?
?Mixed Maza & Fatoush Salad: We started with the Mixed Maza, which offered a perfect tour of textures & dips. Pairing it with the Fatoush Salad was a pro move the salad was crisp, bright, & had that essential sumac punch & crunch that clears the palate for the heavier hitters.

?Manakish (Cheese & Zaatar): You can't go to a place like this & skip the Manakish. The dough was pillowy & charred in all the right places. The earthy, herbal zaatar balanced perfectly against the salty, melty cheese.

?Fatteh with Meat: This was pure comfort food. The combination of warm chickpeas, creamy tahini-yogurt, & toasted pine nuts topped with savory meat is a texture play that they execute flawlessly here.

?Sunnyside Up Eggs with Confit Lamb: This dish is a game-changer. The eggs were perfectly runny, but the confit lamb stole the show-tender, rich, & meltingly soft. It turns a standard breakfast into a gourmet experience.

?The Real MVPs:
?I need to take a second to talk about the pitas, because they were spectacular. Often, sandwiches are an afterthought at breakfast, but here, they might be the main event.

?Shish Taouk Pita: The chicken was incredibly juicy & marinated to perfection. It wasn't just'good' it was the kind of pita you think about three days later. The garlic sauce (toum) was bold without being overwhelming.

?Beef Shawarma Pita: This was a masterclass in spice & sear. The beef was tender & packed with that signature deep flavor you only get from high-quality shawarma.

This place was such a hidden gem, when we went it was empty & honestly I don't understand why the food was out of this world! Go show them some love & visit please! It's worth the trip it's FOODGASMIC CERTIFIED 💦!
