Reviews of Chez Lien present a mixed picture: several diners praise fresh flavors, good portions, reasonable prices, and friendly, quick service, especially noting the soup broth as exceptionally good. The beef with vegetables and mushroom dishes are often described as tasty, while some comments mention wish for more shrimp in certain dishes. A few experiences are less positive, citing stale crispy noodles due to rancid oil that taints other components, and one party described an overall meal as disgusting despite sharing feedback with the manager. Others say the restaurant offers solid Vietnamese fare with freshness, quality, and kind service, and that the overall experience is enjoyable when the menu is balanced and not overly salty. In sum, opinions range from satisfied repeat customers to more critical feedback, highlighting good value and flavorful soups alongside concerns about oil smell, salt level, and limited menu options.
I ordered (takeout) the basil sautéed beef with vegetables, & replaced the rice by crispy noodles. The crispy noodles were stale due to the oil being rancid. They were not edible. The beef, broccoli & mushrooms were very good, but the taste of the rancid oil spread to the other items mixed within.
