Chez Baptiste comes across as a casual spot with a strong beer and cocktail list, a pleasant terrace, and an overall vibe that invites lingering, especially for a drink or several on Plateau Mont Royal. Reviews praise affordable drinks, including a buckwheat beer that may be gluten free, a varied beer menu, and a playful atmosphere with a notably good playlist and friendly hosts, while also noting that service can be slow or uneven and that bar staff may make mistakes. Food is generally described as bar fare rather than a focus, with some dishes like the smoked meat sandwich criticized for being very small and overpriced, though some guests enjoy tasty options; frozen pizza is mentioned as overpriced and not worth the price. The terrace is frequently highlighted as a plus, and the interior remains less observed. Overall this spot is seen as worth a stop for drinks and the vibe, but not a go to for a notable dining experience, with experiences ranging from friendly and convivial to a bit disappointing.
We were on the terrasse so can't say anything about the inside. Decent drinks at a reasonable price.
Food is bar food so no big expectations there. Just go for the drink.

Was out bar hopping with a friend & ended up here after a great run of spots. Unfortunately, this place brought the mood down fast.
1. First Impression: We were ignored for quite a while when we got to the bar. I had to physically get someone's attention before we were even acknowledged. The woman behind the bar didn't ask us anything-just waited for us to guess what to say. Felt rushed & unclear.
2. Second Round: My friend asked for a repeat of his drink, but they gave him mine instead. Then they gave me a rum with anise in it, even though all I wanted was a simple Captain Morgan mix. I can't stand the taste of anise, so that completely ruined it.
3. Attitude: What really got to me was how differently the bartender treated other customers. She was polite & friendly with them-but cold, impatient, & borderline rude with us. It was very obvious.

Service lent & peu sympathique. À chaque commande la moitié oublié (même quand on demande'juste' un verre supplémentaire pour partager un pichet). On avait prévu d'y manger & on a préféré aller ailleurs.
Bar Chez Baptiste was a very good experience. We stumbled onto it by accident looking for some food & a drink. We were not disappointed. The smoked meat sandwich was very tasty & a good price, but the real show stopper was the drinks. The strawberry mohito was definitely worth the stop. Aside from that all of the drinks were pretty cheap & shots cost next to nothing. Really nice vibes with a very friendly staff. Would come back again!
