vegan(8) chimichurri(8) bread(6) sandwich(5) authentic(5) sauce(5) recommend(5) milanesa(4) alfajores(4) hotdog(4) junk(4) trust(4)This is a one or Montréal's secret gems. We've got empanadas, soups & churros & they were delicious. A big plus is that they also have vegan empanadas ❤?
Tried some churros while a friend got flan, it was overall tasty! I liked the cheese one the most
Me encanta la comida, en especial las choripapas y las papas rellenas
Uruguayan approved 👌🏽
The food is amazing, the menu is gigantic & the service is lovely. (:
I was disappointed today although I like other foods of this place sometimes, so I will share here the review for the owner to consider, & I will probably delete it later, & I will leave it at 4 stars at the moment.
The supremo hotdog is problematic. Everything about it is wrong:
- Overpackaged: wrapped with plasticized paper into a box into a large brown paper bag with too many napkins.
- Not fast. The preparation wasn't too slow but wasn't fast considering this is junk food.
- Not good. It felt like junk food. When I want junk food, I would not only want it to be fast, but I would want it to be good at least to enjoy it.
- I was expecting an authentic hotdog & I found a junk hot dog.
- The bread is so white it's obviously treated with chemical harful for health. I would bet that was the cheapest bread, simply. Not a healthy bread. I lost trust at this level.
- The mayo & mustard were in 4x quantity. It was drowning in mayo & mustard.
- The mayo's texture felt like petrol. I bet there is hydrogenated oil in the mayo. I can't wait for hydrogenated oil to get banned in Canada, which is apparently coming soon.
- I couldn't eat it cleanly. when I took it out of the package, its content almost all dropped, & then while eating it, it was super dirty. I eventually just spilled it all over myself & was mad. At this point I was already mad - I just got double mad.
- At this point my trust was so low in the food I was eating I started questioning the quality of the sausage. I mean, the sausage looks like these cheap 1$ hotdogs. I was certainly not chosen for being both good+healthy if the rest was cheap. & for sure, healthy sausages with real meat exist. But with trust so low from all the above steps, I can only assume the worst.
- The price tag of a bit more of 10 dollars with tax for this hotdog doesn't help. For 3$ if would be fair. But my guts feeling is that I should have been paid 20$ to eat this one, it had negative value for me so much it seemed unhealthy & cheap. At this point it'd probably healthier to smoke cigarette.
Yep the list is long. Sorry, that is all I had to say. I eat 2x a day in restaurants so I can't afford to eat unhealthy like that. I hope that helps to improve the restaurant for it to be resilient & to shed light on a few problematic parts of the process, & for it to be taken with curiosity.
For positive feedback: I usually enjoy & love the Barros Luco Sandwich. The Barros Luco Sandwich is great overall, perhaps only the bread in it is not good for the same reasons than the hotdog's bread as I mentioned above. The Barros Luco has avocado, meat, tomato: it's in equilibrium & actually nourishing! Except the bread. For the Barros Luco: thank you. This sandwich should probably be advertised with a big sign or something, it feels like the best & like something you should actually promote because it's nice.
Vegan empanadas were insanely good & the lady working was really nice too!
Excellentes empanadas. Cuites au four & non frites donc elles sont légères & les garnitures sont délicieuses.
J'adore celle à la courge champignon & fromage végétalien.
Le chimichurri est absolument incroyable, n'oubliez pas d'en prendre un pot !
Only had the churros, but they were so good we came back the next day for more. Montreal may be known for its poutine, but great churros at Che should also be added to your must-eat list when checking out the local food scene.
A quick stop for food prior to needing to rush somewhere. A couple empanadas & several churros (to share with others): excellent flavors, decent serving size, & pleasant service for a very fair price. If living or passing time nearby, Che Churros would definitely be on my list of go-to places.
Got a vegan empanada & it was delicious! Better than some of the ones I've had in Argentina.
I had number 28 (vegan beef) & 17 (vegetarian, cheese & onion).
I looooved 28, they have 2 other new vegan options.
Service is nice & friendly.
Looking for the ultimate comfort food in Montreal? Che Churros & Empanadas on Marie-Anne is a hidden gem you don't want to miss! 🥟✨
Their empanadas are hands-down the best in town-crispy, flavorful, & packed with delicious fillings (with plenty of veggie options, too!). Each bite is pure South American magic, & the homemade chimichurri takes them to the next level. & if you've got a sweet tooth, you HAVE to try their alfajores-soft, crumbly, & filled with dreamy dulce de leche. Trust me, they're the perfect treat to finish your meal.
The staff here are super friendly & make you feel right at home, whether you're grabbing a quick snack or planning a picnic in nearby Jeanne-Mance Park. The vibe is cozy & welcoming, & everything is made fresh with love.
If you're craving authentic empanadas, melt-in-your-mouth alfajores, & some of the best churros in Montreal, Che Churros & Empanadas is the spot!
Quelle belle découverte!!! Trop délicieux & que dire de la sauce chimichuri 🤤😍
honestly one of the best places in montreal for true authentic empanadas, you're gonna want to bathe in their chimichurri sauce. Not many seating areas as the restaurant is small but very worth it my fav is the Spicy Meat one.
