We had dinner at Chand Palace on a Sunday evening as a group of four & ordered several dishes to share: palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, masala dosa, mixed biryani, & the mixed tandoori platter. The total came to around CAD $80 before tip, which felt like a reasonable price for four people.
The biggest downside was the wait. Although there were only about four other occupied tables, our food took over 30 minutes to arrive. It appeared that the restaurant was prioritizing online & takeout orders, which unfortunately affected the dine-in experience.
As for the food, it was decent but didn't quite stand out. Most of the dishes were a little too salty, which overpowered some of the flavors. The masala dosa had a good filling, but the dosa itself would have been much better if it had been crispier & freshly made. The mixed tandoori platter had a fairly high spice level, but the seasoning & smoky flavors were just average rather than memorable. The palak paneer & chicken tikka masala were enjoyable enough, while the mixed biryani was satisfying but not particularly distinctive.
Overall, Chand Palace offers fair value for the price, but the portions could be a bit more generous, & the execution of several dishes could be improved. It wasn't a disappointing meal, but it also wasn't one that would make me eager to return immediately. I'm interested in trying some of the other Indian restaurants in the Montreal area to see how they compare, as I haven't yet found one that truly stands out. Based on this visit, I'd rate Chand Palace around 3.5 out of 5 stars.
This is hands down the best bhel puri in all of Montreal! The quantity & price are both absolutely worth it. Definitely give it a try! 😋
I don't often post reviews but had to for this one. I have been away from montreal for a few years. Have tried butter chicken from multiple locations but always felt something lacking when comparing with butter chicken of chand palace. Now got a chance to visit montreal again & getting butter chicken from here was one thing on my montreal to-do list. Same taste that has been lingering on my tongue all these years. Delicious! Now i can die in peace. Over & out.
The food was good & the service was boff when I went to pay, I paid in cash & I asked the girl for the receipt & she started saying nonsense on how they can't give me the recipe because I paid in cash this is so unprofessional & unacceptable whatever places I go when I pay in cash they always give me the receipt this is bullshit right here
Been here a couple times & the food is excellent! So well spiced, lots of vegetarian options naturally. Great value.
My favorite indian in Montreal. Great for delivery. Don't go anywhere else. Wish I could find the same in toronto.. the veg pakora samosa & butter chicken are the move.
delicious food great taste love the naan bread it was superb to visit at this restaurant
