Il y à longtemps que nous n'étions pas allés. La soupe aux pois était bonne. Nous n'avons pas vraiment aimé la panure du fish & chips & les frites très ordinaire. Les desserts ( tarte aux pommes & pouding chômeur ) étaient médiocres.
Près de $100.00 pour deux assiettes de fish & chips 2 morceaux en table d'hôte & un coke, non merci on n'y retournera jamais. Comme bien des restaurants, la qualité a baissé & les prix ont augmentés.
Let me put you on a gem that only your friends who are 60-plus would know about. Le Chalutier MLM has been operating on Boulevard des Laurentides in Laval since 1976, which means this restaurant has been frying haddock longer than most of its current clientele have been on blood thinners. I say this with nothing but love: the youngest customer in this building does not yet have a pacemaker, but she's on a waitlist. The median age of the dining room is'remembers Expo 67 in person.' The restaurant closes at 8 p.m. - not because they want to, but because the crowd demands it - & it is reliably packed by 5 p.m., which, if you've ever wondered what the early bird special would look like if it were a lifestyle ideology, this is your answer.
The fish & chips comes out golden blonde - Pamela Anderson in her prime, baywatch-era, running-in-slow-motion blonde - with a batter so light & shatteringly crisp it sounds like applause when you bite into it. The table d'hôte is the greatest deal in the greater Montreal area: soup, main dish, dessert, & tea or coffee, all included. & the tartare sauce - homemade, creamy, tangy - I could eat it with a spoon like yogurt, & I am not exaggerating, I would put it on cereal if society would let me.
For dessert, do not overthink it: order the pouding chômeur. The Québécois classic arrives warm, swimming in maple syrup, dense with the kind of unapologetic sweetness that makes you understand, on a constitutional level, why this province has wanted to separate from Canada since before you were born. One bite & you'll be voting Oui. Le Chalutier MLM doesn't have a sommelier, a Instagram page worth following, or a single customer who knows what TikTok is - & that is precisely why it is perfect.

J'ai eu le plaisir de déguster à nouveau le meilleur fish & chips de ce côté du Saint-Laurent. Toutefois, je me dois de faire part de mon mécontentement concernant la politique de facturation de 4 $ pour le partage d'une assiette. Notre groupe était composé de trois personnes, dont deux ont opté pour la table d'hôte incluant une soupe, un poisson, un dessert (la meilleure tarte au citron) ainsi que du café ou du thé. L'un des membres de notre groupe a décidé de prendre la soupe d'un autre membre. La serveuse a alors fait remarquer que le partage d'un repas entraînait un supplément de 4 $. Cette pratique m'a semblé déplacée & peu courtoise. J'ai finalement payer 2 fois pour la soupe. J'aurais dû, à mon avis, prendre la soupe & demander un Doggie-bag. Il est regrettable que cette politique ternisse la réputation d'un établissement classique de Laval.
Super bon & vraiment rapide! Si vous cherchez un excellent fish & chips, c'est clairement la place. Ils sont de vrais experts dans ce domaine ,tout est parfaitement fait & délicieux. Il n'y a pas énormément de choix au menu, mais honnêtement, on vient ici pour le fish & chips, & ça vaut absolument le détour!
They do not accept reservations. We waited in a car port for 20 minutes then got our table of 9. The food was large portions & the price was great. Even the wine was under 30$. It's like this place stayed the same from 15 years ago & they never raised their prices. I do recommend the Fish N Chips, it is they're go to menu item, I mean it's written on the side of the building. The crowd is all elderly, it is remarkable when you look around at the sea of gray hairs. I feel safe, like I'm eating at an old folks home. For a great meal at a great price I do recommend.
Repas incroyablement bons ! Nous avons commandé des fish & chips & ce sont les meilleurs que nous avons mangés. Des portions vraiment généreuses. Un menu du midi qui inclut le repas, soupe, dessert, café pour un prix fort raisonnable. Beaucoup de choix & de variétés au menu. Nous avons été servis par Caroline, souriante & avenante. Service impeccable ! Bravo à toute l'équipe !
Le meilleur fish & chips à Laval. Nous y allons au moins 6x /an.... minimum. Il y a d'autres choix au menu tout aussi bon! Soupe, repas, dessert & thé ou café inclus ! ! Vous pouvez ajouter le vin au verre, demi ou bouteille!

I heard very good things about this restaurant before going there. I was still surprised to see the huge lineup at the door 5pm. However the crowd was a bit older. I heard that the fish chips were really good. I gave that a try & it was indeed a treat. The batter is crispy & they use haddock for their fish. Our waitress was very friendly & took the time to explain the menu to us. She even told us to order some desserts ahead of time because they are popular & run out fast. So we actually got our desserts before everything else. The decor is nothing out of the ordinary. The glasses & coffee cups were already on the glass covered tables. Not classy, but hey, I was there for the food & it was worth the trip & the wait. They also have a good sized free parking lot.
