About

Cha Do Raku serves as a sanctuary for those interested in the nuances of traditional Japanese tea preparation. The menu centers on a vast selection of high-quality imported leaves, where precise brewing draws out deep, subtle aromatics in every cup. Alongside these tea offerings, the kitchen prepares homemade comfort food rooted in seasonal sensibilities. Savory dishes such as ochazuke anchor the selection, presenting a bowl of rice submerged in fragrant broth that provides a gentle, warming flavor profile. The space maintains an intimate character, keeping the focus entirely on the sensory experience of the tea and food. Every item reflects a steady dedication to authentic flavor balance and traditional presentation, resulting in a distinct environment where the quiet complexity of Japanese ingredients takes precedence.

Review Summary

Cha Do Raku is widely praised as an intimate and authentic tea destination that offers a calming, Kyoto-like atmosphere in Montreal. Visitors frequently highlight the extensive, high-quality selection of Japanese and Taiwanese teas, noting the precise brewing techniques that produce exceptional flavor profiles. The homemade Japanese comfort foods, including ochazuke and various desserts, receive consistent acclaim for their traditional taste and quality. While most guests find the service welcoming, knowledgeable, and accommodating, some feedback notes that the seating can be limited or uncomfortable and that prices may be high for the portion sizes provided.

Les portions sont petites, & en plus, c'est cher pour un salon de thé.

I was surprised that the tea shop had a small cafe area inside of tea shop. Their teas are very interesting & flavorful. I would to recommend this place to my friends who are interested in Japanese teas. I would like to try their ochazuke next time, which must be authentic & tasty.

Their tea selection is huge & we ended up choosing what the owner recommended. The green tea was mind blowing. The tea is exceptional quality.

We also got 2 desserts & the complement the tea so well. One of them is rice mochi & the other is a creamy mousse cup. It feels like a little piece of Japan in Montreal. A truly amazing experience. However, seats are limited so you might have to squeeze in a little bit. Love the atmosphere, hospitality & tea!

This is really tiny place, so if want to have a tea inside - better to have a reservation.

+ 2?rh + ? + ?r²h = Cha Do Raku.
À tester au moins une fois si t'aimes le thé (ou juste chiller dans un spot qui a de l'âme).

This tea salon is really a hidden gem in Montreal. The Japanese owner is so sweet & welcoming. The tea & the sweet snack were delicious.

Accueillant. Conviviale. C est un arret obligatoire & un lieu a adopter a chaque deplacement. Merci.

A great & unique tea-based experience. You get to learn how to make special teas & eat delicious food originally from the south side of Japan.
