Awesome speakeasy experience! We dropped into Cappella around 8 PM for a few drinks & absolutely loved it. Cool vibes, solid music, & delicious cocktails. The complimentary cannoli upon arrival was an incredible touch, & playing games at the table made it super relaxing & fun. Definitely a spot worth visiting!

Unfortunately a really disappointing experience. My friend & I arrived just after 11 p.m. & were told we had to spend minimum $25 on a drink as a cover to get into the speakeasy (since it was after 11pm).
We agreed since we'd probably spend that much each at least anyway. We were brought to the waiting area/queue & realized we had to order drinks there before even getting into the speakeasy itself.

What bothered us most was seeing multiple groups of white women & men, being let in without waiting or paying for drinks, while everyone left in the queue with us were people of colour. Based on what we witnessed, the difference in treatment made us feel racially profiled & extremely unwelcome.

To top it off, when we got in, the music was unbearably loud, making it almost impossible to have a conversation. Also, the place was practically empty which is interesting since we had to wait a while! Overall, a very disappointing experience, & we won't be returning.

Cappella is an amazing speakeasy bar! After going to a few bars in Old Montreal Cappella is easily one of my favourites! The entire experience is so fun & the vibes of the speakeasy are amazing!

While I didn't have any of the snacks or food, the drinks were amazing with great recommendations from our server Max! She really took care of us & even checked in on us while we were dancing in the club area of the bar! She was so kind & made sure we were comfortable in the dance area & brought an amazing energy & absolute kindness! She gave amazing recommendations for restaurants around & even a few other bars to try which is so incredibly kind of her! Max made the experience so incredible at Cappella!

This is truly a gem of a place with amazing vibes of the cellar stone, hidden entrance, & very friendly & welcoming staff! Such a fun & unique set up to enjoy while in Old Montreal night life! Completely recommend going later in the evening when night life is active in Montreal to enjoy the full experience!

Had such an amazing time here! Everyone was incredibly welcoming & friendly from the moment we walked in, but Josh completely stole the show. He was so friendly & hands-down makes the absolute best drinks! The vibe is great & we will definitely be back. 10/10 recommend!

Nice new speakeasy with a fun concept-I loved that you have to write a confession before going through a'beer door' 😂

The staff are friendly & welcoming. I stopped by for a quick drink & really enjoyed the atmosphere. Love, love, love the music please don't ever change that.

There's also a section where you can sit & play games like cards, Uno, Jenga, etc., which is a nice touch. I had a vodka martini & it was well made.

There was a DJ playing, & as the night goes on, the vibe shifts into more of a club scene, which is pretty cool.

I'd definitely go back, especially to try the food next time.

Cappella speakeasy is a total Montreal gem! By day, it's a cozy, vibey café with incredible coffee & sandwiches, but the transition into the speakeasy is where the magic really happens. Maxine, Arielle & Joanne are amazing, my friends & I were genuinely treated like VIP while visiting for the first time from New York. They work like Edward Scissorhands!
The sound system is world-class-crisp, immersive, & perfectly tuned so you can feel the bass without it being overwhelming. They clearly prioritize audio quality, which makes every DJ set an absolute journey. Whether you're there for a chill afternoon brew or a late-night groove, the atmosphere is unmatched. Highly recommend if you appreciate great music , some of the best service I've found & even better drinks!

Cool little speakeasy - seems to function more like a nightclub than a cocktail bar though. We went at 9pm on a Saturday for a drink before moving on, & there were only a few others in there, most of them moved to the dance floor as soon as the DJ started. Music was great, drinks were average - menu was small, but that's expected if most people are there to dance. Cool spot in the old port!

Super disappointed, we came in got drinks & my boyfriend joined us, they stopped him at the door saying he couldn't come in because he wasn't 21+. I told the guy the law for alcohol is 18+ & he didn't want to hear anything, then i asked the waitress & she said the age is 18+ but he isn't dressed'appropriately' when he had clean pants & a hoodie, same outfit my other friend was allowed to walk in with. The drinks were already paid for & we left without even drinking them…
