I grabbed my favourite & got some details about the closing of the Notre Dame location I had set foot in previously... Too bad it covers some traces because it closed. Beautiful terrace in Verdun...happy to hear English everywhere around me. Delicious coffee & extra stars for sparkling water offered for free.

For all the years I've been driving up to Montreal to get away from the hellscape that is the US, I'd never tried Café Saint-Henri until this afternoon.

Instantly smitten by both excellent coffee as well as the most charming man. Hugo was so delightful that I think I'll have to make this location my new favourite hangout when I leave Vermont.

I wish I could remember the name of the drink I had, but it was wonderful.

If you read this, Hugo, it's André who loves Ethiopian coffee. Merci pour votre... everything. 😊

I've been up & down Wellington to find a coffeeshop that checks off all my boxes & even though I haven't found it yet, there's one box that matters the most to me & it's the customer service.

By far, HUGO IS THE BEST BARISTA ON WELLINGTON! Yeah, I said it. Not only does he know how to make a great cup of coffee/matcha latte, but he knows how to turn a one time customer into a regular!

He does this by consistently meeting you where you're at. What this looks like is engaging with his customers, getting to know them, ensuring that he's making them exactly what they want by asking questions & continuously iterating it to their preferred taste. When he serves it to you, you can tell he gave his best effort to your beverage & when he picks up your empty cup, he truly hoped you enjoyed it.

& even towards the end of the day, if you're in a deep work flow or conversation, he doesn't rush you out & allows you to come to the end smoothly.

That level of care should be the standard for all coffeeshops, but I'm just grateful that he's in my neighbourhood!

Cafe Saint-Henri in Verdun is one of my favorite spots for coffee. Its about a 4 min walk from the metro. Coffee is always consistent they serve you with a smile every time. I go out of my way to get my caffeine fix here.
