As far as I know, this is the only Café Milano location in the Montreal area that does this. Serving drinks in ceramic cups would greatly improve the dine-in experience.
FAKE REVIEWS - A 100% Italian here. This place is an insult to Italian culture & tradition. Nobody speaks a word in Italian, the guy who serves the coffee: pure incompetent. My order: 1 cappuccino, 1 doppio espresso, 1 biscotto, 1 croissant. I got a cappuccino on a paper cup! What the heck is that? The double espresso was served on a bigger tazzina (cup), so bigger than it's supposed to be & my cappuccino on that paper stuff? I asked the guy politely:'why is my cappuccino in here. I am Italian & even if I were not this is truly wrong'. His response was absolutely BS saying'the givernmental rules' don't allow that! So there are some rules against cappuccino but not against double espresso. I replied, & that's the man I am, I speak once:'you are making a big mistake & you should fix it'. His reply: sorry there is nothing I can do. Then instead of the croissant I got something else because apparently there was no the croissant I asked, when I pointed out? I paid $27.35 for all that. Whoever is behind this business I have no idea but it cannot be those whom I expected. If you want a totally fake Italian café place, go ahead, but don't call it Italian because it has nothing Italian on it. Absolutely nothing. First & last time. You had the chance to bring it to the south shore & totally blew it. A true authentic Italian would never step back inside a second time. Vergognosi.
Finally a cafe on the south shore that stays open past 4pm!
This place serves much more than just coffee including food, beer & wine but you're actually able to buy a coffee beyond 4pm which feels unheard of here in Quebec.
Another big bonus, maybe it's weird but I really appreciate it, is they had plastic straws. Finally I'm not eating chemical coated soggy paper or weird hard pasta type straws. We really need a plastic straw resurgence already.
It was a good place to grab a quick breakfast while traveling. The pastries were good but quite heavy. My husband & I ordered three, but I think one to share would have been enough for us. The hot chocolate & coffee were amazing!
The desserts, gelato & coffee is really good, but the portions for the sandwiches are not very generous. This was the size of the my chicken cutlet (provided, I removed the veggies to get a better picture of the chicken) I would go to Bossa for a better sandwich.
You need to place your order at the counter & give your name. When your order is ready, someone is going to walk around the café looking for you by calling your name. It's a pretty noisy café so I find this method a bit inappropriate. It would easier if they would hand out pagers or give us a number to place on the table. Their salads & sandwiches are tasty & delicious. The fried are crispy & well-seasoned. They even have Beyond Meat for the vegetarians which is great. It's a bit pricey, however, it's a good option to have. Their coffee & gelato are also amazing.
