Overall, Café Cherrier emerges as a Montreal institution that consistently delivers classic French bistro fare with generous portions, a warm Parisian vibe, and attentive service. The menu is praised for reliable staples like onion soup, gravlax, onglet de boeuf, gigot d'agneau, ris de veau, and steak tartare, with brunch and desserts such as eggs Benedict and tarte tatin earning frequent compliments, and the terrace is often highlighted as a superb setting for al fresco meals. Prices are considered reasonable for the quality by many, though a few reviews note that they have risen and some call portions or value not ideal at times. Service is repeatedly described as friendly and professional, with staff remembered for their attentiveness, yet some experiences mention slower pacing or occasional missteps in busy rooms or in wine recommendations. The atmosphere is described as convivial, intimate, and often lively, sometimes noisy, but with a consistent level of comfort and charm that keeps diners returning. Taken together, the reviews suggest a dependable, well loved bistro that balances tradition and quality, with room for improvement in noise control and consistency.

Service was slow, server spilled salad on back of my silk blouse, ordered pork tenderloin, instead served reheated sliced pork.
I have been a loyal customer for many years. This visit ended my loyalty & I lost an expensive silk blouse in the process.
Server said only a little bit of salad on my jacket. I specially asked if any went on my blouse. She replied NO. Imagine my surprise when I arrived home & changed my blouse only to find two large oil stains down the back
It was my second time dining here & it was just as wonderful as the first time. I dined at the bar, & Victor was attentive & helpful in explaining the menu. Negroni was great, & the margaret de canard was delicious as well. Raspberry sauce was surprisingly good. I've missed the ile flottante & it was just as amazing as last time.

I loved the ambiance. The food was ok, but the waitress did not tell me that there would be an upcharge for getting two eggs (instead of one) for my salmon benedict. Also I found what was given on my plate (potatoes, two eggs on one muffin, slice of baguette) for $21 or 22 unsatisfactory & overpriced
Merci beaucoup!
