If I could give six stars, I would ...one extra for how much my taste buds danced in confusion & delight. Cafe Castle is where coffee meets therapy & croissants meet emotional support. I ordered a latte that was so good I briefly considered proposing to the barista ...not for love, but for consistent caffeine supply.
The vibe? Somewhere between'European art student' &'I own three journals but finish none.' The food? Let's just say my plate looked like it had been through a natural disaster when I was done.
If you're in Montreal & don't go to Cafe Castle, you're doing breakfast wrong.
The coffee & service was good, but the vegetable wrap was soggy, cold & unappetizing. For 11$, I was expecting more than a couple of slices of cold aubergine & zucchini in a wrap. Please change your recipe & add at least a little protein in your only vegetarian wrap.
Really nice cafe, especially for it being attached to a hotel. For some reason, by hopes were low but my expectations were for sure exceeded. The coffee was a very reasonable price, & very delicious. The croissant was also good. Service was good, nothing incredible but nothing below good. I would be willing come back here again if I return to Montreal, & I normally don't repeat coffee shops unless the quality is incredible.
As a student this is one of my favorite tree cafes to study at. Great vibes, great choclatine, & great coffee
This coffeeshop is not living to its potential. The atmosphere & setting are amazing & quite unique in the area, which gives it a particular charm.
However, the prices are inflated past the market around them, you will end up paying a few dollars more on basic items compared to similar experiences around. Food might be good but the portions (ie for sandwiches or quiches) are quite small for the higher price.
I haven't tried the coffee there in a while, I won't be commenting on that. But please DO NOT take the matcha latte: I have tried many matcha lattes from different coffeeshops around Montreal & this has got to be worse one I've had. It tasted like sour, diluted, & uncomfortably cold water with a very subtle hint of a grassy horrible taste. Quite disappointing as a coffeeshop to add matcha on your menu just to copy the market when you are unable to provide a proper high-quality matcha powder & design a latte with correct proportions & taste.
We ordered the ham & brie sandwich & it was delicious. The coffee was rich but smooth at the same time, but what was really outstanding about this café was the service. Best service that we've had at a coffee shop ever! Highly recommend it.
Extra tip: The espresso martinis here are from another world & they are only $10 during happy hour.
Will definitely come back

Cozy & dynamic café in the heart of Montreal
Café Castel is a beautiful place with a vibrant & welcoming atmosphere. I had a medium latte with beautiful latte art & an almond croissant that was fresh & perfectly flaky. The staff were kind & efficient, adding to the charm of the whole experience. It's the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer & enjoy the moment. Highly recommended for coffee lovers.

Let me start by the ambiance, it is just one of those cafés you fall in love with at first glance. Right from cobblestone flooring to pale ochre walls, a balcony & beautiful lamps/ chandeliers. Than comes the great coffee. The Lebanese know their craft & this doesn't disappoint at all. Best flat white in town. A perfect pit stop for your daily caffeine need.
Im always a fan of places that are a cafe & also a bar. Cafes naturally close in the afternoon & bars start then so it makes a lot of sense to use the same space for both. Places like this usually have a good mix in their atmosphere since it needs to work for both. This one has a vary italain style with walls that look like you are walking down a old city & warm lighting to match it. The coffee itself was nice & earthy & when we came back the esspresso martini had a similar earthy & creamy flavor. Overall a nice little coffee shop.
I was the first customer of the day, & what a great way to start my day. Great coffee. Pleasant & relaxing vibe. Friendly & talented staff. There was a big brand cafe across the street. I made the right choice. Keep up the great work!
This coffee shop has a quiet, inviting atmosphere, enhanced by its antique-style decor-wooden furniture, vintage details, & soft lighting give it a timeless feel. It's a comfortable place to sit for a while, whether you're reading, working, or meeting someone. The coffee is smooth & well-prepared, with enough variety to suit different tastes. They also offer a good selection of sweet & savory food-fresh pastries, sandwiches, & small meals that pair nicely with the drinks. A steady, dependable place if you appreciate a classic setting with quality offerings
Great little place with a nice city view!
Update, a local told me about this place, now this is my'go-to' place for coffee & a light meal! Love it!
We particularly enjoyed the refreshing Black Lemonade & the piquant Bloody Spicy Orange.
They also have a list of new beers & wines available that we are eager to try, as well as smoothies, lattes, coffee, sandwiches, salads, pastries, & cakes!
Located in downtown Montreal, it has a very unique interior design reminiscent of European alleys & a full balcony above the counter doubling as a glass rack.
The wonderful solarium-style windows offer not only constant rays but also a view of the city's core. One of the rare cafés in Montreal to be open in the evening & selling alcohol. Its comfortable atmosphere & long list of delicious items to choose from make it a great option for a quick stop or a more relaxed occasion.
Great ambience served with good coffee & amazing food. Loved the tiramisu & plain croissant
Amazing coffee shop with great service & beautiful atmosphere
Café Castle has such a relaxed, cozy vibe - the kind of place you can sit for hours without noticing the time pass. The coffee is great, the atmosphere is peaceful, & everything just feels easy. Hiba & Talia were lovely - friendly, thoughtful, & made the whole experience feel even more comfortable. It's rare to find a spot that gets both the vibe & the service just right. Will definitely be coming back.
I loved my experience at Café Castel! The vibe was cozy, the coffee was great, & the service made everything even better. Huge shoutout to Hiba, Talal, & Talia they were all so kind & welcoming. Definitely coming back soon!
Definitely one of the best coffee shops in Montreal! I love the decoration, the great coffee & the friendly service. Creates the perfect vibe for a coffee outing!
Good coffee with great service. This is my go to cafe.
