Endroit avec une ambiance authentique & vintage très originale. Des articles perses un peu partout qui plantent bien le décor, des pâtisseries vraiment envoûtantes. Un vrai voyage!
My first time in Montreal didn't go exactly as planned-my girlfriend (she's from Toronto) & I (from Vermont) were hoping to spend most of our time exploring Old Montreal, but the weather had other ideas. So we pivoted, looking for a cozy café where we could stay warm, write, & enjoy good food, & that's how we found Café Aunja.
From the moment we walked in, it felt like something special. Our visit ended up being so memorable & romantic that we now think of it as'our' place.
The seating is abundant, & while the lighting leans dim, it's adjustable, which makes it ideal whether you're writing, chatting, or just people-watching with a cup in hand. The staff are warm & extremely welcoming, & as someone who's been a barista for 15 years, I can honestly say the drinks & food were made with real care. You can taste the pride in every detail-from presentation to flavor.
Café Aunja has Iranian roots, & it was my first time trying items like the Kereshmeh & Nargoun smoothies, both of which were bright, fruity, & refreshing. I also had a slice of their blueberry cake, which looked beautiful & tasted even better. On the more traditional side, I tried their moka latte, while my girlfriend went for their floral & herb-packed teas, which were as pretty as they were flavorful.
We ended up coming back two more times during our trip to write & relax, & I actually started my next novel there. She left equally inspired. Even if we stay in a different part of the city next time, we've already agreed: we're coming back to Café Aunja.
It's not just a café-it's a creative sanctuary, a cozy escape from the weather, & now, a cherished part of our story.
Very busy & crowded, had to wait for a table for a while but Persian Fog was amazing & service & vibes were lovely.
Really lovely. Really loved the vibe around here. I just had an almond cappuccino, & stay there for a while.
Definitely recommend this coffee
I am in love with their sandwiches. I tried their vegetable sandwich & it contains pesto sauce which is so delicious. Also, their milkshake & persian fog which has a unique saffron & pistachio flavour & I would definitely recommend to try it.
Highly recommend the chicken sandwich. It's the classic Persian Olivier salad. The fresh bread used in the sandwich is really good.
We had the Persian Fog & the Kereshmeh. The Kereshmeh smoothie goes greatly with the chicken sandwich.
The place is pretty cramped. The london fog & the smoothie were really good, but the food was ordinary for the price. Overall not bad, but not worth 50$
Didn't get water with the Omlet, temp was 20 C. Otherwise very nice :)
Très bonne expérience au café Aunja. Les ordinateurs ne sont pas permis, ce qui donne une ambiance très chaleureuse, els gens discutent, ça fait du bien. Décor, service & nourriture au top !
The rosemary cake was one of the best cakes I've ever had. The pastry was stupendous & spectacular. The vibes & warmth & coziness of the establishment were fantastic. The coffee was decent & the food was good with a nice variety of flavours that complemented each other. Also love the fantastic reads scattered all throughout the restaurant. I'd be back in a heartbeat for coffee & their desserts/pastries.
What's there not to like? I just finished having their Big Breakfast (not the actual name), & there is a flavour celebration in my mouth at the moment.
Charming, courteous service complements the food perfectly, while the ambiance & atmosphere are warm, quaint, rich & eminently suitable for reconnecting with a friend, reading, journaling, or plopping out the laptop & getting that one task done -- finish that document, compose that important email.
Now, kindly ignore all the positive things I have said so far, so I can find a seat when I come here next.
(All of that said, it would be even better if all the food items were about 10% less. It would make coming here & ordering even more of a no-brainer)
