Review Summary

Cafe Aunja is widely celebrated as a unique and charming Montreal gem, offering an immersive atmosphere that transports visitors with its authentic Persian decor, cozy vibes, and thoughtful aesthetic. Guests frequently praise the high quality and freshness of the menu, with standout items such as the flavorful Persian Fog, signature herbal teas, saffron cake, and various hearty sandwiches and breakfast options. While the cafe is highly popular and can get quite busy, especially on weekends, the staff are consistently noted for being friendly, warm, and attentive. Although some visitors find the pricing to be on the higher side or note that wait times can fluctuate during peak hours, most agree that the relaxing environment and exceptional culinary offerings make it a must-visit destination for those looking to unwind or enjoy a special meal.

We went to this place right after dining in their restaurant next door!
Atmosphere & the design - just like the restaurant- is well thought & resembling Iranian culture & heritage.
We have ordered a dessert called Freni, which was very delicious. Followed up by ginger tea, persian fog & some classic black tea. All well presented & proportionate. Saffron cake was also delicious!

A café with a distinctly Persian vibe! The décor is completely Iranian! it honestly felt like I had stepped into a café in Tehran. The menu is very professionally designed & offers appealing items for both Iranians & non-Iranians alike. The staff were kind & welcoming.
I had a Persian Fog !it was tea latté with lovely saffron aroma. My friends also enjoyed their orders. I'll definitely be coming back next time for breakfast

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant.
First of all, it's very strange (& honestly off-putting) that they ask for a tip before providing any service. That makes no sense & feels inappropriate.
Secondly, there's no basic setup on the tables - not even salt. You have to leave your table, go to the counter, & ask for them, you cannot find anything on counter.
As for the breakfast, the quality was very average. Nothing special, nothing memorable.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place.

We had a lovely experience at this Persian café.
We started with black tea & saffron cake - the cake had a rich flavor without being overwhelming. The Persian fog was also very good. One of the highlights for me was the ferni; it was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, & incredibly satisfying. The ginger tea was well-prepared too. Highly recommended

Cozy environment, mostly occupied
Their sandwiches are tasty but also expensive.
A sandwich & milkshake/coffee/tea will be $30+
