Buvette Nicole was by far one of the best restaurant experiences we had in our time in Montreal. The atmosphere was very inviting & the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the chicken supreme, which I would absolutely recommend. The blend of flavors is incredible. Jordan was very kind as well & made sure we felt welcomed. Would definitely come again!!
I had a dinner at this place & I have to say it had some downsides that all other Montreal restaurants have. E.g. it was packed & seats where small. However, the service was perfect, super welcoming & respectful staff. The food was average in my taste, & I believe I'm not in a good position to talk about it as my first time trying a French restaurant.
Something that really bothered us all was the air conditioning. I don't think it was much to do about it, maybe because of the age of the building cause the staff were aware of the situation & they were keep filling our glasses with cold water, but I believe a few strong fan could make the situation much better.

Un dîner parfait au coeur du Vieux-Montréal chez Buvette Nicole, dans un magnifique cadre historique à l'ambiance bistrot parisienne à la fois chic & intimiste. Un immense merci à Adam, notre serveur, dont le service a été d'une attention remarquable, avec des conseils avisés sur les plats & les vins, alliant professionnalisme & chaleur humaine - il est aussi formidable avec les enfants, ce qui a été un vrai plaisir pour toute la famille. Côté assiette, la cuisine française est savoureuse & authentique, avec des produits frais & des saveurs parfaitement maîtrisées - nous avons adoré le tartare de boeuf à l'aïoli à la truffe, le poulpe grillé & le cheesecake déconstruit au dulce de leche. Une expérience inoubliable que je recommande chaudement à tous les amateurs de bonne cuisine à Montréal.

Visited Buvette Nicole in mid-May 2026. This little French eatery is located in Old Montreal & was one of our nicest meals during our stay.
We started out with the French Onion Soup ($19) which was soup-er cheesy. We also had the Grilled Octopus ($29) which was one tentacle paired with a mango salsa. The octopus was tender & the mango salsa went well with the dish.
For our mains, we had the Bavette Steak with frites ($39) & the Pork Rib ($42) with grilled peaches & kale. We really loved the tender grilled peaches & the pork was a generous serving. The bavette was flavourful & paired with a compound butter. While the grain was loose, it had a nice mouthfeel & the fries were addictive. Glad we picked this place to visit.
On a recommendation from both the hotel concierge & a a sweet server from another pub, we chose Buvette Nicole.
Made a reservation, since it was a busy weekend.
Greeted by Jordan, literally a ROCK star of the house. His recitings of the dishes were all poetry worthy!
Started with Wine by the glass, fairly priced & a nice pour.
Table was a bit tight but the whole place was abuzz, good music & nice vibe - for sure.
The menu is delicious sounding just to read.
We started with the mussels appetizer.
NDUJA & MOULES - Plump mussels on toast with fried capers & the Nduja paste.
Life changing flavors. We were amazed at how all the ingredients melded & were just perfect. Cannot say enough about this dish.
Main course was the Bavette steak. Also super flavorful & a wonderful salad with it.
The dessert was a chef's special. A cheesecake style mousse with amazing cookie crusts mixed into raspberry sauce. Heavenly. Truly world class ending to a wonderful meal.
We went back the next night just to say hi & how much we enjoyed it, since it was that good.

A wonderful experience at Buvette Nicole. The Beef Bourguignon was excellent & the service was wonderfully attentive to our group of 7. Other standouts were the fois gras & cheesecake.
J'ai adoré mon expérience chez Buvette Nicole. J'étais seule j'ai donc réservé pour être au bar & j'ai apprécié le service d'Olivier. Il y avait une belle ambiance, une qualité de plat de cocktail à la hauteur de mes attendes. C'est assez dispendieux mais délicieux.
To say we enjoyed this restaurant is an understatement. A friend & I are visiting Montreal & this place was recommend by a local. The atmosphere was very nice with dim lightening & a mix of Jazz, French, & Italian music. All the food looked absolutely delicious. We settled on the Famous Fondue for two. What a fun dish to eat! BUT the absolute best part of our night was actually our server, Jordan. He was attentive from the moment we walked in the door, a real joy. He was so funny. Even told us about the'dare' when the bread is dropped into the fondue. We had an over all GREAT experience at Buvette Nicole. Highly recommend.
This has been our go-to spot for about 5 years now. We visit Buvette Nicole every time we come to Montreal (once or twice a year) & we tell our friends to go there whenever they are in the city. (Always positive feedback). The staff are lovely (shout out to Olivier for hosting us so wonderfully last night). The atmosphere is cosy & the food is always excellent. The steak tartare & the escargot are a must try! Go for the happy hour drink specials (between 4-6) & stay for dinner.
