Bocado Grill is widely regarded as a standout destination for authentic Portuguese cuisine on the South Shore, frequently praised for its flavorful dishes like grilled octopus, succulent chicken, and traditional pastries. The atmosphere is generally described as cozy, inviting, and intimate, offering guests the unique opportunity to watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen. While most visitors highlight the impeccable service and warm hospitality, some note that the space is small, requiring reservations to secure a table. Experiences are largely positive, though a few reviewers have pointed out concerns regarding menu pricing transparency and occasional inconsistencies with seasoning or food quality.
We has dinner there yesterday. It was our first time. Cozy little restaurant. Appetizers were pricey & small in my opinion. As for meals it was hearty, delicious & quite original. Plz make sure to ask the price of the whole fish, ask them to inform you before they cook it. We were shocked by the bill! We paid cause it was our fault we didnt ask! The reason im putting a 3 star is this, out of 4 meals 3 was very salty. The outer skin only. The inside was fine. So we peeled the skin off the fish & the chicken & had out meal. No biggie! What i find hard to accept is the waitresses reaction to my comment! I told the black rimmed glass lady 3 meals in total were very salty on the outside, a mistake happened, plz take note so it doesnt happen again. She replies' this is the first time someone complained about the food , we never get complaints'! Well im ur first. Stay humble, ur food is good, mistakes happen but ur attitude that was horrible. & on top of that im hypertensive , so salt is something i watch closely! Plz do better,
Great way to discover authentic Portuguese family cuisine!
The chicken, ribs, fries, sardines, rice, salad & sea bass are to die for.
The service is impeccable & very nice to talk to the owners while we eat sitting at the bar.
Excellent restaurant, I had the chicken & pork combo... was amazing. The chicken was very very good, but the pork was the best pork I have ever had. I know that sounds excessive, but it is true. The whole plate was amazing as the fries & salad were also very good.
Authentic & delicious Portuguese cuisine. Small restaurant with big heart. We enjoyed the entrée of Pasteis de bacalho (cod fish croquettes) continued with the combo Bifana & the Portuguese chicken plates with generous portions. The meals paired perfectly with the chilled Vinho verde. Closed out our tasty meals with pasteis de natas & yummy coffee flavoured flan for dessert. Excellent & friendly service makes you feel right at home. We will definitely be back !
The lamb & chicken special was a WOW. The Portuguese wine was amazing. i was starving & grumpy of hunger when i got there, but left with a full belly that felt great, & a big smile. The portion was very satisfying. The Portuguese chicken club sandwich looked so good, i ordered one to go for a late snack, but it disappeared from the fridge, & non of my girlfriend's kids admitted their crime 😝 It didn't bother me, since I was so full from my main course, i was only able to have the dessert with my coffee the next day 😋. The grill/kitchen is behind the bar area, where i noticed the attention from the nice chef to the cooking. I never order my meet rare, but he made me a medium/rare that was not bloody, & i loved it. Very friendly atmosphere by every one working there.
We opted for the family meal with a whole chicken for takeout. Unfortunately, the fries were undercooked, & the chicken lacked flavor without the piri piri sauce. On a positive note, the sauce itself was good. However, the overall chicken experience was disappointing. The salad was also quite bland. For dine-in, seating is limited, & reservations are necessary. Additionally, parking is scarce, so plan accordingly.
