Review Summary

Bistro Isaka is widely recognized as a premier destination for authentic, high-quality Japanese cuisine in the Montreal area, particularly noted for its exceptionally fresh fish and perfectly seasoned sushi rice. Guests frequently highlight the extensive variety of menu options, from traditional sashimi and nigiri to flavorful appetizers, all offered at very reasonable price points that represent great value. While the majority of visitors praise the care and precision put into every dish, some feedback suggests that the atmosphere can be inconsistent, with occasional reports of lackluster service or a need for better restaurant maintenance. Despite minor critiques regarding ambiance or limited seating availability without reservations, the general consensus remains that this establishment serves some of the most genuine and well-prepared Japanese food in the city.

The food/service may be fine, but I was very disappointed to see staff taking their cigarette breaks right beside the outdoor play area of a daycare next door. As a business, there should be more consideration for children's health. It's unpleasant & inappropriate to expose kids & even the teachers to secondhand smoke.

I hope management takes this seriously & designates a proper smoking area away from neighboring daycare play area. This reflects the business to me & will no longer supporting this place . *I had asked the cooks along with the teachers if they could please move & they refused.

A real hidden gem in LaSalle! ✨🍣✨

The sushi is very fresh & beautifully presented. You can tell the chef puts a lot of care into every piece - from the perfectly cut sashimi to the delicate nigiri & well balanced rolls. Great variety & everything tasted amazing.

One of the best sushi spots in Montreal . Will definitely come back again!💯

BEST sushi in Lasalle

I have been coming to this restaurant since looong time ago; when they relocated from avenue parc to Lasalle, which then became too far from me back then & recently I visited twice within the last 2 weeks.

Bottom line, still the same great place & this is the Authentic Japanese restaurant run by Japanese family. To those of you who love sushi saying that you love fried dragon Maki roll with lots of mayo sauce, you may find it blend. You may say you like Japanese food but you don't want to eat raw fish or seaweed you will still find several options here, & one thing for sure I guarantee, for the price & quality you get in this place, it is rare & this is very close to what you can expect to eat in Japan.

You will find variety of fresh fish options for sushi, not just common type of salmon, tuna, crab meat & sweet omelet; you will find mackerel, scallop, squid, yellow tail & etc where you can eat them raw only when they are extremely fresh otherwise you will get sick. (See if you can find them at your all you can eat sushi restaurants). Other dishes including grilled chicken screwers, grilled squid, tuna carpaccio, unagi pie (grilled eel & spinach in a puff pastry with teriyaki sauce), Everything is perfectly seasoned, well prepared, & ultimately, their sushi rice is always perfectly cooked & seasoned. ( had enough of those places with soggy rice & they still roll their maki).

I highly recommend this place & I will still be a repeat customer.
