Review Summary

Bistro Isaka is widely praised for high quality Japanese fare, with sushi described as fresh and well rolled, great value for what is offered, and a strong range of dishes including soups, takoyaki, udon and tempura. Several reviewers highlight generous portions and reasonable prices, with some calling it the best sushi in LaSalle and noting the kitchen's cleanliness and stylish decor. Reservations are sometimes required or at least recommended, and on some visits customers were turned away for lack of seats despite online information not indicating a reservation requirement. Service is described as efficient and friendly on some visits, though other reviews mention cold reception and a less inviting dining room with maintenance issues such as spider webs on lamps. Overall, the dining experience is seen as highly favorable for food quality and value, with a few inconsistent dishes like some grilled items that were overcooked or rubbery and varying takes on the ambiance.

This was the most authentic isakaya & I'm here for it! From the ambiance to the service it was a real Japanese culinary experience. The grilled mackerel & tonkotsu ramen was delicious. We tried their vegetarian ramen with tofu as well as their fried tofu starter. We will try more of their menu items! A must try in Montreal!

Definitely a hidden gem! The dining room was open despite the sign on the door - we almost left because of the sign but glad we didn't! The food was great & authentic, & the restaurant itself was cute & clean. Service was very good too. Five stars!!

Hidden gem. Run & owned by local Japanese family. A neighborhood hood restaurant. While not an extensive sushi list what they do serve is first & foremost fresh , affordable , good quality sushi. The "must tries" here are when you try the daily specials & their authentic Japanese tapas style menu listings : spinach , burdock root , agadashi eggplant , chicken balls , torched salmon to name a few . The non sushi menu items are scrumptious making this place enjoyable for all. Easy parking. Casual & affordable . Family , date night or get together for whatever the occasion.

Really authentic Japanese food. The kind of food you want like going to Tokyo. The ten don is amazing & try hamachikama. It's the best in this place. Don't forget Tsukune with Asahi. You will love it. Very generous portion, too.

Half of the restaurant is for take out bags. One of the most delicious & authentic Japanese restaurant in Montreal. Japanese Chef behind the counter. Fresh fish & Japanese tapas. Very affordable prices & the portion are generous.
