I came here on a rainy evening drenched in rain & was served a really good meal :) The waitress gave me good options on wine & asked me the right questions to help me choose. For dinner I ended up having the white sauce Ragu (too lazy to look at the menu to guess which one it is because I cant read Italian) which was very good the pasta was al dente. the wine was good & the tiramisu was really chocolatey which I loved. This was a really good experience & ill be back for sure :)

Very nice & cozy environment, good lighting. unfortunately very loud & out of place cheap music that made an empty room near impossible to have a conversation in. Service was unappreciative, had no personality or care & didn't really know how to suggest things or'sell' the kitchen's menu. ('well its an Italian restaurant so we have pasta'). Pasta was ok. The Ragu tasted nothing for the price paid, a pool of olive oil at the bottom of the plate confirms a lack of care of the kitchen. Half the menu was not available, same for desserts. Tiramisu is done by partnership & tasted like cheap refrigeration & industry standards. Its not like Tiramisu is hard to do internally so why? Wine selection was poor & uncreative for the price asked. Overall, a very expensive & forgettable experience that will not be reproduced.

Finally got to try this restaurant & it definitely surpassed our expectations. Fresh, high quality ingredients & bold, memorable flavours in every dish. It's a cozy, warm Italian vibe but at the same time feels elevated & worth your money, very far from a simple plate of pasta you can just make at home. We didn't get to try the cocktails or dessert but we will be back! I've already recommended this place to friends & family.

The best Italian in town !! Hands down ❤? I love Birbante

we slipped into this deliciously 70s-Milan-kissed Italian hideaway, where mischief is written right into the menu & charm is served by the plateful.

Everything tasted unmistakably homemade-like stepping into Nonna's house on a slow, sunny Sunday. We almost hate that we loved it so much 😅

We began with a crisp endive salad dotted with almonds, a simple pleasure done perfectly. Then came the Tagliatelle, tangled lovingly with veal & olives in a very balanced sauce Nonna couldn't have made better herself. The haddock, dressed generously in pesto, was a quiet show-stopper. & the lava cake smelled like it came straight out of my mom's oven-warm, familiar, & impossible to resist.

The décor plays just as big a role in the experience: Campari bottles stacked from floor to ceiling, orange banquettes straight out of a stylish 70s film set, marble touches, & soft vintage round lights that make everyone look like they're part of the celebration. It's the perfect spot for a date (bring someone who deserves it) or an intimate gathering of close friends-& yes, sharing plates is encouraged.

Let's start by saying I hated it!!! BECAUSE I know I'll be dreaming about every dish for as long as my ADHD allows. We had three courses & dessert, each with an Italian name I won't attempt to butcher, so bear with me. There is Campari everywhere. Not super important but I was like wow.

Ok what was eaten:
Endive Salad: Perfectly balanced flavors with a kick of tangy vinaigrette. Simple, fresh, & so well done.
Pasta with Veal Meatballs: This one. The smellllllll of the tomato sauce instantly transported us to our grandmothers' houses on a Sunday afternoon. Full-blown nostalgia moment & obviously absolutely delicious.
Fish with Pesto: PERFECTION. Nothing more to say.
Molten Lava Cake: 10/10. Paired with some raspberry goodness. DID NOT disappointment, pure joy.

In short, every plate was simple yet layered with thoughtful, intentional flavors. Nothing felt overlooked. You can see into the kitchen if you get close enough, I always like that.

I genuinely think this is the perfect spot for a small group of friends who like sharing dishes…you get to try more of their fantastic menu. It's very open. Looks like they could accommodate a giant group comfortably.

Without a doubt amongst the best Italians you can find in Montreal.

Birbante's kitchen puts emphasis on quality & simplicity as a faithful ode to traditional Italian cuisine, while still providing fresh & modern takes on classic recipes (i.e. Nduja Risotto & the Doppia Bruschetta)

They'll never fail to make you feel welcome & at home with their great staff, meaning that you'll typically go back home with a full belly & a large smile. Remarkable how they nailed bringing an authentic Italian spirit all they way to Montreal.

Only danger is that if you go once, you might just find yourself going again & again.

I was hoping to get an authentic Italian experience in my area, but unfortunately, this restaurant was quite disappointing. Having spent time in Italy, I've come to appreciate the balance of quality & portion size - something that was lacking here.

The food was underwhelming & quite expensive for the quantity. We actually left still hungry. I ordered the clam pasta & ended up having to return it (something I rarely ever do) because it was overly salty & the pasta itself was dry.

On the bright side, the service was excellent - they were kind enough to replace my dish with another option from the menu. We finished with a tiramisu, hoping for a better impression, but it too was a bit dry.

Overall, great service but disappointing food for the price.
