This rating is strictly about the french toast. The bagel is good, but you will leave with onion breath. I dont have french toast often, but the challah french toast is easily the best I've had. I should say I was expecting a little extra on the presentation because all the french toasts I've had come with toppings & whatnot. This one is presented on a warmed plate, naked, & bare with a small side of syrup. Fruit & bacon is optional & really not necessary at all. A superior display of simplicity at its finest. The challah.is.so.good. the maple syrup is the cherry on top. Clean restaurant & friendly service. No wait on a Thursday afternoon in May.View more

Very special breakfast。 located in Montreal Jewish quarter, apparently, this is a quite famous & popular cafe. A couple started it in 1942, a lot of celebrities dines here with her(his) photo taken & displayed on the wall. The most famous breakfast here is bagel with smoked salmon.View more

Lovely atmosphere & service. The food was very good, I personally had the clubhouse classique on challah bread , & it was excellent! It's been a long time since I was last here. I have such fond memories of coming here pre-pandemic. The service used to be friendly, the food always solid, & great atmosphere. I have never been shooed out of a restaurant until today at Beautys. I understand that when there's a line up out the door, the tables need to turnover & it's rude for guests to sit around chatting well after they're done eating. I'm always doing my best to be a good guest & leaving as soon after finishing my meal as possible. Today was too much. My friend was not even finished her plate before we were rudely told to three times that there's a line up & they needed the table. The server, who has been there for years & previously given great service, was hounding us to leave. When my friend went to the restroom at the very end, she literally came up to me & said, point blank, "We need the table now." Needless to say, don't think I'll be back. I say this having been a server for years.View more

The food was great, but a little expensive, unfortunately the servers didn't come to the table very often & I had the feeling that they focused much more on the tables that were reserved because at the end they were able to ask for more tips, when finishing the payment we were very uncomfortable with our attendant who was now staring & rotating our table because we didn't give her the best tip.View more

If you like chopped liver, Beauty's is the place to go. You get a scoop of chopped chicken liver, on a bed of veggies, a side of gravy, topped with clarified onions. Delicious! But Beauty's, (along with other Montreal institutions like Schwartz's), is cursed with having to live up to all the hype. Nevertheless, Beauty's offers a decent breakfast. They also make a good burger which they won't over cook if you ask for it rare. This is something most restaurants refuse to do, (citing health reasons). Try the classic smoked salmon on a bagel with cream cheese.View more
