I had an extremely disappointing experience at Le Mal Nécessaire.
The staff were honestly some of the most unprofessional I've encountered. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the place is completely disorganized. Despite having a reservation, we were told to wait in the back & ended up standing there for about 40 minutes with no explanation or update. It felt like we were completely forgotten & honestly made to feel excluded.
The management seemed just as disorganized as the staff, with no one taking responsibility for the situation or even attempting to handle it properly.
To make matters worse, the olives & finger foods tasted like they were past their expiration date, which is pretty concerning for a place that presents itself as a high-end cocktail bar.
Overall, the experience was frustrating & poorly managed. With so many great bars in Montreal, I would definitely not recommend this one
the drinks were delicious, vibes were great on a rainy night, music was good & our bartender niko was excellent. the queueing system was really odd though, they escorted us to a back room bar where you can order a drink while waiting for an actual table. back room bar menu & main bar menu is different. we waited for around 30 min on a sat night before getting a table.
Le Mal Nécessaire is a nice bar with interesting cocktails & a cozy, intimate atmosphere. However, the music was very loud & I didn't enjoy the band that was playing. That said, it seems like they host different acts, so the experience may vary depending on the night.

This is such a cute spot for a cocktail. My friend & I sat at the bar & the bartender Nico was amazing. He was so friendly, answered all of our questions about the menu, & made us feel so welcome.
Je suis venue à deux reprises dernièrement & j'ai beaucoup aimé mon expérience. Aussi bien aux tables qu'au bar, l'accueil & le service ont été parfaits du début à la fin. J'ai eu la chance d'être servie par Atci, qui en plus d'être très professionnel & de bons conseils, m'a fait passé un très bon moment en prenant le soin de m'expliquer les cocktails & d'être toujours présent quand il le fallait. Merci pour ces 2 belles fois, on se revoit vite pour un excellent negroni !

L'ambiance est top & la qualité est clairement au rendez-vous. Le lieu est superbe & on s'y sent immédiatement à l'aise. Le personnel est accueillant, souriant & très professionnel, ce qui rend l'expérience encore plus agréable.
Mention spéciale pour les cocktails, parfaitement maîtrisés.

L'ambiance & la qualité sont clairement au rendez-vous. L'endroit est magnifique & on s'y sent tout de suite à l'aise. Les serveur(euses) sont très agréables & polis, ce qui rend l'expérience encore plus plaisante.
Mention spéciale pour le Pina Fuego, un cocktail absolument excellent !

Great vibes & incredible cocktails! The mixologists are on point. Service was also great. Upscale stylish & live DJ spinning great vibes. I went here with the Montreal pub crawl organized by Djiby. This bar is a must do in Montreal!
My cousins said it's a nice place to go. But the girl behind the bar sat around giving dirty looks. The drinks were just okay & the waiter could have been friendlier.

Truly the best bar in Canada. Erik & Francois were the most hospitable & gracious hosts. Cannot overstate how incredible an experience! Beverages on par with, & exceed, the world's best.
