Review Summary

Au Vieux Duluth offers a Greek dining experience that is often praised for its generous portions, affordable prices, and the convenience of a bring-your-own-wine policy. Many patrons appreciate the consistent quality of the calamari, steaks, and souvlaki, frequently noting the friendly and attentive service provided by the staff. However, experiences appear inconsistent across various visits and locations, with some guests reporting issues related to food freshness, seasoning, and occasional lapses in service speed or professionalism from management. While many visitors find the atmosphere welcoming and well-suited for families or casual meals, others have expressed frustration regarding service delays and negative interactions with staff, suggesting that the quality of both the cuisine and the hospitality can vary significantly.

One of the better Vieux D's.
Big plates, big salads, & fish is very good.

Always a good place for good consistent food. Shrimps, steaks, chicken, All side dishes. Everything was very good. The restaurant (Marcel-Laurin) was very busy & our table of 13 was a bit cramped, but otherwise, good. Service was fast & (almost) acurrate: out of 13 people, a burger was missing the meat (!), & a few plates has mixed ups with side dishes. Everything was fixed promptly. Very yummy desserts too. The cost of the meals were very reasonable. We will return. (Not my photo, but meal looked the same).

Very delicious plates, the coho salmon appetizer was like butter, the calamari was tender & tasty, we also had the beef barley soup again delicious. For the main course we had the shrimp plate, honey chicken & the steak with Caesar salad, all delicious. The staff was courteous & the service was quick. Can't go wrong with the food there, don't forget to bring your own wine.

We went there 2 weeks ago during the week, the Marcel Laurin Vieux Duluth restaurant. Service was good, no complaint there, but the food this time was not good as before. They must have changed the cook or people in the kitchen for sure, or they are saving on the ingredients! We have been going there for years, & never complained. 2 weeks ago we ordered as entrée the Escargots à la bourguignonne in garlic sauce, it was bland, no salt at all, hardly any garlic, actually 1 tiny piece of garlic you can hardly see within the butter, frankly it was not edible! We always ordered that before so many times but 2 weeks ago, it was not good & we will never order it again. We did not complain to the waiter because they should serve good food without us complaining! Then we ordered the Souvlaki plate & another plate of fish, filet doré. Both plates were OK, but the salad again was not good, very bland, dry & hardly any salad dressing on both plates' salads, almost like they just added water to the salad instead of dressing! Vieux Duluth can charge a bit more on their food so to keep the good standard but to skimp on salad dressing, & garlic, the main ingredients on the plates is no good. The owner of the Marcel Laurin Vieux Duluth should check on the food served every now & then like a quality control. We did not order dessert that day, we were not happy to stay there longer.

Its a hit & miss with this Au Vieux Duluth! Many times i have gone with friends & family & it has been amazing! Yesterday , 04/29/24 i ordered the same plates i usually get & everything was stale! From the bread to the calamari! The butterfly shrimps were burnt & stale! I dont know whats going on but you guys need to change things up cause you will be losing customers! & i've recently heard a negative review from someone i know as well about an undercooked chicken which was pink on the inside..Anyway, Best of luck!
