Living in Japan for 10 years, This teriyaki chicken won't transport you to the bustling streets of Tokyo, but for a dependable weekend meal, it hits the mark. The teriyaki sauce, while leaning a bit on the sweet side, offers a pleasant balance of savory notes, making it broadly appealing. You won't find the nuanced depth of more authentic preparations, but it coats the chicken nicely without being overwhelming.
Teriyaki Vegetables: A Mixed Bag
the teriyaki vegetables & while the flavor profile was decent, the execution left something to be desired,
The main issue was the texture of the vegetables. They were unfortunately overcooked, resulting in a soggy consistency that lacked any satisfying bite. It felt as though they had been simmering for too long, losing their vibrant crispness.
With a little more attention to the cooking time, these teriyaki vegetables could be a truly enjoyable dish. As it stands, the good flavor is overshadowed by the disappointing texture.
The shrimp tempura was decent enough, but it didn't quite hit the mark for truly exceptional tempura. While the shrimp itself was fresh & cooked through, the batter lacked that delicate, airy crispness that defines great tempura; it was a little heavier & less ethereal than ideal. This resulted in a slightly oily finish rather than the light, melt-in-your-mouth experience you hope for. It wasn't bad, just not memorable.
Wow!!! This spot is a little gem in Montreal. Best sushi I've had, & they had wonderful service. Ordered a mix of maki, sashimi & nigiri & everything was phenomenal & very fresh. Highly recommend the bbq'd eel & anything with salmon skin! I've been daydreaming about it for a week now & will be back again soon!
Hands down the best sushi restaurant in Montreal! The quality is always fresh & the menu offers a lot of variety. The staff is friendly & the restaurant is very clean.
Favourite sushi spot. Always fresh at a fair price for the quality. The specialty rolls/menu is something else. Atami is number 1
Atami has the best sushi in town. We have been eating there for more than 10 years & have not been disappointed. We always order the Chef's Choice; the sushi is fresh, the fish is tender, flavorful, a pleasant texture, & the Chef's Choice offers a great combination of flavors. Overall, it was a great experience! 👍

This is a fine Japanese restaurant located in Cote-des-Neiges. They have a varied menu & offer high quality, fresh fish. Be careful if you arrive during lunch, though, the sushi chefs are not to be rushed, so get there early if you have a meeting!
