I got a take out for the first time at this location & it was the last. The food had no taste compared to other locations, no fruits or tomatoes on the side, no care for serving food! Also, the server tried to charge me 2.95$ for a black coffee to go with my order + smoothie.
I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago as a tourist. Overall, the experience was actually very good-the food was delicious, the atmosphere was nice, & the staff were very friendly. The server checked on me several times during the meal to make sure everything was okay. I was originally planning to leave a five-star review.
However, something happened during checkout that made me a bit uncomfortable. The server told me that 9% of the tip goes to the government & that he personally only receives 3%, implying that I needed to pay an 11% tip. I gave him $5, but he asked me to add another $4, saying that if I wasn't happy about it, he could refund it-but I didn't try to get it back. Later, after consulting ChatGPT, I learned that this explanation does not match the actual regulations in Montreal or Canada.
In addition, I noticed in the reviews that someone mentioned arguing with a server after refusing to tip. I'm not sure if that's true, but based on my own experience, I can somewhat understand how that unpleasant situation might have happened.
Aside from the tipping issue, I was very satisfied with everything else. However, this experience made me feel misled, which affected my overall impression. I hope the restaurant can improve its staff training in this area to make the dining experience truly excellent.

Service was poor unfortunately, we had to ask for a glass water 3 times. The waitress seamed overwhelmed so she was rude to us. Thankfully another waitress came to help.
A special thank you to (I think Gabriel - on his shirt) on this visit who was ver accommodating for our 12 person group today who was very patient with finding us room after the Walk for Breast Cancer as the group trickled in from traffic.
The food was great & some of our top picks on this visit were the skillet dishes & the Brunch Rosé!
Food was great as usual. However the server left a bad taste in my mouth at the end. When I payed my bill at the end & tipped as much as i could (a bit less than 15%) she asked me if i know how tipping works. I explained that i do since i worked as a server & i said i tipped as much as i can afford to. She told me that 10% of the tip goes to the government so she wasnt making any money. It made me feel uncomfortable & unnecessarily guilty. Not sure if i'll be back especially if the tipping lecture is standard practice.
Dommage...

I used to be a regular, 2x a week. Since the restaurant has been sold to new owners, its not the same, the food is not as well prepared, the food wasn't that great. I went back 2 other times, didn't get what i ordered, asked for mash potatoes with onions, got sliced potatoes with onions on top. The eggs were not cooked. I ended up sick the last 2 times i was there, as well as friends who also used to go.
Unfortunately we will no longer be going back there. We as a group have since changed restaurants.

'Eggs-cellent & Coco-nuts in the Best Way Possible!'
If you haven't been to Allo Mon Coco LaSalle, you are missing out on a breakfast experience so good it should be illegal… but luckily, it's not (yet). The moment I walked in, the smell of fresh coffee & sizzling bacon gave me a warm hug. The staff? Friendlier than a Montréal grandma offering you another plate even though you're already full.
The eggs? Fluffier than a cloud that just went to the spa. The potatoes? Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, like the perfect rom-com character. & the portions? Let's just say I had to roll myself out the door like a happy cinnamon bun.
They also don't judge you if you order enough food for'three people' but eat it all yourself. Hypothetically. Not that I did that. (I did.)
Verdict: If happiness could be served on a plate, it would look suspiciously like an Allo Mon Coco breakfast. 🥞🍳☕
I don't understand getting a cold breakfast. It's so infuriating.
The food is good...the service was, too...but when everything is cold it spoils everything.
