About

Alep specializes in the vibrant traditions of Syrian and Armenian cuisine, offering an extensive selection of authentic Middle Eastern mezzes and grilled specialties. Guests encounter a menu anchored in pomegranate molasses, zaatar, and hand-rolled grape leaves that reflect a deep commitment to regional culinary heritage. The kitchen prioritizes slow-cooked stews and seasoned meats served alongside freshly prepared flatbreads and aromatic rice dishes. The interior design mirrors the warmth of the Levant, featuring traditional architectural elements and a focused layout that highlights communal eating practices. Every plate emphasizes texture and bold seasoning, from creamy hummus variations to savory kebabs fire-roasted to order. This establishment functions as a dedicated center for those seeking complex, spice-forward flavors and traditional Mediterranean preparation techniques within an understated, functional setting.

Review Summary

Alep is widely regarded as a standout destination for Syrian and Lebanese cuisine in Montreal, frequently praised for its flavorful, fresh dishes like hummus, grilled meats, and unique desserts. Many visitors highlight the warm, professional service and the extensive wine list, noting that the tasting menus offer a fantastic way to experience a variety of authentic, high-quality flavors. While the majority of guests have a wonderful experience, opinions on the atmosphere vary, with some finding the space vibrant and welcoming while others describe it as noisy or occasionally too formal. Feedback on portion sizes and consistency is mixed, though the overall consensus positions the restaurant as a highly recommended spot for those seeking a memorable and delicious Middle Eastern culinary experience.

Their kebab was like a Costco kebab. There wasn't anything special about it. & there's something wrong when you need to buy your Costco kebab at a restaurant.

Great ambiance. Great friendly & professional service. They even have a Sommelier (wine steward). We had the Sampler menu. Good choice.
