I have been to this restaurent few times including the one Crescent street. Affordable price with delicious food. I am fanatic over their Salads (the bocconcini, tomato and spinach ). Love them. Very casual...suddenly hungry in downtown...go there.

Amazing restaurant! We came for a Saturday brunch and we stayed until late night...! Service is quick and professional, big tv screens to watch hockey, good beer and wine selection. You have to try the famous bombay chicken or for the beer lovers you have to try the club sandwish.

After recovering from a terrible dining experience the night before, we ventured out to find a nice spot for lunch.

We were both delighted with the overall experience at this cafe and were pleasantly surprised that they served brunch until 4pm.

It was fairly busy and there was only one waitress who was working at the time. She did a fabulous job and was fast and friendly.

The food was great and the decor was pleasant!

We've eaten at the rue Peel Cafe Republique on each of our 3 trips to Montreal, as the seafood crepes are good enough that fiance insists on having them on every trip! Everything I've tried on the menu has been good, but the Crepes de 7 Mer are my favorite, as well. We've never had bad service, even when the restaurant was relatively crowded. We've never ordered drinks from the bar, but the waitstaff has always been courteous and we have never waited long for our food. Pricing was very reasonable for the portion size and location; I expected to get a small crepe with only a little bit of seafood the first time, and instead received a very large rolled crepe that covered the width of my oval dinner plate and was full of large chunks of seafood (mostly scallops) with a hefty helping of salad on the side. The ambiance is nice as well, because the layout presents you with a bit of a choice of experiences as the bar takes up the central space of the first floor and creates a large divide between the front and back sections. If you sit in the back of the restaurant, past the bar, it's a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown, while the tables near the front feel like you're very much a part of the downtown scene.

Hungry? Go to Cafe Republique.

They have spots all over Mtl. Their Peel and St Laurent restaurants serve abundant portions at a reasonable price in the main party areas where food is often ridiculously overpriced.

It's great for groups as it's large and usually not crowded. The food is good, nothing exceptional but definitely great value for money.

Service can sometimes be slow, so don't go there in a rush.

Tip: have their escargots, "populaires" dishes and/or the pastas.
