I went here ~2-3 years ago & had a good time. Went here recently & had a totally different experience.
It is NOT a friendly nor welcoming vibe. The entrance is gated off, our waitress informed us that we couldn't just order drinks BEFORE even ordering anything, the restroom is bared off with a key. The item I got last time, the crème brûlée, has since been jacked up in price so I did not reorder it. You're looking at close to 30$ for 1 crape with cream now. I steeled for a 19$ yogurt dish thinking it came with a crape… it did not come with a crape. I ended up paying 19$ for yogurt, a banana, granola & strawberries. I was astounded by the price of everything. While we were there two ladies got yelled at. I assume it was for not tipping as I heard something about thinking the service was bad. But I honestly understand them. I mean the prices are so high I would think that the tip is included with the price anyway. The water was lukewarm. Don't try to come with big groups. At the bottom of the menu it says that they charge an additional percentage when you have groups of I think it was 5+.
Just feels like a tourist trap really. If you want Ghibli, good vibes, unlimited food, kind staff, then go to K2 Bistro. Reserve a spot ahead & you'll have a great time. More Ghibli stuff than just totoro.
You can tell their matcha is good quality & they have macadamia milk!! The chicken salad was delicious & the ingredients taste really fresh & good quality. They did not have WiFi but they seemed to have no problem with me doing some work on my laptop. The vibe is very cozy & the service extremely kind. 10/10 recommend!
There was a blonde employee questioning why we didn't tip & got so defensive about how the servers needed it. I don't know if this is normal in Montreal but that was not a great experience. Customers should not feel forced to tip.
Delicious Trois Fromage crepe! Others in my group had breakfast sandwiches which were good & healthy too. A little expensive & tight seating (our group of 4 was split up between 2 tables- luckily back to back from each other). Perfect place to stop before heading to the Ferris wheel in Old Montreal.
We were staying at the Hyatt Centric close by & decided to give this place a try for breakfast as we wanted crepes, & ended up having breakfast here twice.
Within moments of entering the cafe, we realized that it was also a shrine to the Japanese anime character Totoro, with dolls, figurines & artwork dedicated to it. Even the latte art featured different characters from the anime.
The team of young staff served us warmly & efficiently. Our group ordered an assortment of savoury & sweet crepes & they were all done very well & were delicious. I had a Maple Latte which was not too sweet & had hints of maple syrup.
Highly recommended for a crepes breakfast, brunch or lunch if you're in the Old Montreal area.
I love the totoro decorations & everything is so cute just a little small, amazing food 🍀
This is a great spot for a weekend brunch in Old Port! If you're looking for a delicious meal & some high-quality matcha in a charming Ghibli-themed setting, you'll find it here.
The only downside is that it can get quite busy, & there aren't many waiters, so you might have to wait a bit. Otherwise, a must try!
This is a wonderful spot to have some breakfast or a sweet treat.
The crèpes were amazing & the coffee is delicious.
The staff is wonderful & kind.
Not to mention the interior is beautiful 🤩
