Description
Restaurant Akwaba (which means Welcome) is located in the Rosemont-Petite-patrie area, in Montreal.
Akwaba proposes a culinary voyage combining African and Greek treats with a touch of modernity and originality within a nice, warm and welcoming atmosphere. At Akwaba restaurant we propose our traditional African dishes as Kedjenou (stewed chicken ),Yam stew, couscous, Tiep bou dienne, Saka-saka (Pondou) without forgetting the unavoidable Alloko (fried plantains) and more…, traditional Greek dishes as Mousaka, the Pastsio etc. and dishes issued from the two combinations. Of course, the Chef-owner has a large knowledge of African and Greek cuisine. Previously, he used to be Chef and owner of a restaurant in Greece and has worked closely with many great African and Greek chiefs resulting of his mastering of these 2 types of cuisine. The Akwaba concept is about to promote the real African cuisine flavours in all its dimensions. This concept also introduces African cuisine ingredients in a few Greek recipes, as to replacing the potato by the yam or the sweet potato in the Greek Moussaka, et… Also, in the Bassamoise salad, tuna is replaced by salmon and adding garden cress brings up a special and very appreciated taste. (it’s the Queen of our salads) etc..Furthermore, all of our salads are seasoned with homemade salad dressings mixed with extra virgin olive oil from Kalamata (Greece) We serve as desserts Pineapple Chutney Crêpes cake with Pinacolada sauce, small portions desserts from my childhood with different flavours, dêguè, Baklava (Greek) etc.. At Akwaba’s, giant screens have been installed for sports fan and we also have African music video clips. Nothing beats watching a sports event while eating a delectful mixed grill. Come with your friends as nice pleasant surprises are waiting for you. Akwaba, Bienvenue, Welcome, Kalos Irthate |
