Overall, reviews of Trattoria Gio describe a welcoming spot with solid Italian fare and a lively Old Port ambiance, where many diners praise flavorful pizzas, pastas, and desserts and note friendly, attentive service when it runs well. The kitchen is credited with well prepared dishes like pasta and braised meats, and the atmosphere and value are frequently highlighted. At times, however, service is described as slow, disorganized, or inconsistent, with delays in seating, taking orders, or delivering courses and occasional order mix ups, and a few dishes arriving too salty or not as hot as hoped. When issues arise, staff or management are described as making efforts to rectify things, and many guests say they would return for the food and overall experience. In sum, Trattoria Gio is regarded as a solid, enjoyable option with strong flavors and a pleasant vibe, though service experiences can vary.
Picturesque location, nice staff, excellent decor, & good food. Italian food, as the name suggests. Walked in for a quick bite, pizza & calamari fries. Good enough to order another round. Both indoor & outdoor seating available.
Super belle expérience à la Trattoria! Nous avons été servis par Tristan, le service a été agréable & très rapide & le serveur connaissait bien son menu, il nous a bien conseillé. C'était délicieux!!
Stopped by Trattoria Gio & the food was excellent. I had the ravioli spinach & ricotta & it was a great choice. Our waiter Tristan was very kind & treated us with great hospitality.
Stopped into Trattoria Gio on your last day in Montreal. The atmosphere was very nice. They have outside dinning as well as their main dining room. I loved the copper pipe decor in the back. The food was very delicious. The sauce was definitely one of the better ones in the city. The presentation of the plates could be better. I feel like with the quality of taste they should have fresh parsley as a garnish not dried, & a better parmesan cheese available. Overall I recommend this restaurant for classic Italian cuisine.
The only thing perhaps better than the actual F1 race this weekend in Montreal was an exquisite special dish from Trattoria Gio a recommendation by the fabulous Brenda who suggested the incredible Grand Prix special of a AAA steak covered in lobster sauce with lobster bits, with charred asparagus smothering buttery mashed potatoes. Don't miss it, it's a podium finish every time!
Dinner here was amazing! Our server Branda was delightful her recommendations were on point! Food was incredible, raviolis aragosta to die for. We are coming back for sure.
Service was ok, but food was overpriced & nothing special. The table bread they served was frozen inside, granted it's complimentary but you can judge the care & quality of food based on that. In the end you're paying for the location as it's in the vibe place of old town Montreal, but there are many options to choose.

Great service from our waiter Tristan! The food & the drinks were great. Dalia offered us some shots, shes the best! Love this restaurant in the old port of montreal will be back!
