THAILAND -- what comes to your mind when thinking about THAILAND? Is it the temple, the local market, the crazy nightlife, or the Thai smile?!
For me, it is PLAIN SIMPLE: THAI STREET FOOD! Just the ordinary comfort food next to the street - the smell of curries, the colourful dishes with perfect spices, and the wok skill of local vendors.
THAM.MA.DA, a Thai word used to describe something ordinary or simple, is a casual dining cuisine serving ordinary but authentic Thai street dishes. As well as Thai inspired drinks that will bring the “ordinary but extraordinary” vibes, the “same same, but different” food on the plate for you to EXPERIENCE.
Thammada shines with flavorful Thai cuisine made from fresh ingredients and bright, well balanced flavors. The menu covers favorites like Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, Khao Soi, Massaman and green curry, with standout dishes such as green papaya salad, mango sticky rice, and fried tofu. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with a small friendly vibe and a charming terrace that many reviews praise. Service is consistently described as attentive and warm, though there are occasional notes of slower service when busy or portions that feel small for the price. Cocktails receive praise for creativity and balance, but some feedback mentions they can be a little light on alcohol. Overall, Thammada is regarded as a standout Thai option in Montreal with repeat visits and strong recommendations.
Just had the most unreal dining experience at Thamada, & wow… this place is pure magic. From the moment you walk in, you're wrapped in the scent of lemongrass, chili, & all the warm, inviting vibes you'd hope for. 🌿🔥
The food? Next level. The Pad Kra Pao had that perfect holy basil kick with a fried egg so golden it deserves its own spotlight. 🍳 The Tom Yum Goong was bright, tangy, & soul-warming. It felt like a hug in a bowl. & don't even get me started on the Massaman Curry… velvety, rich, & melt-in-your-mouth tender. Pure comfort with a touch of elegance. 5 stars ong no cap.
Drinks are just as dreamy, a lemongrass spritzer that refreshes like a breeze in Bangkok, & Thai iced tea so smooth it's basically dessert in a glass.
& the server was the most professional man I've seen. Kind, great, & he could do tricks whilst preparing the drinks that I've never seen before. It's as if Dionysus the god of alcohol himself possessed the man.
Don't listen to the Nirvana reviewer, he lied in his review & doesn't know what he's talking about. I recommend Thammada for any fan of Thai food!
Literally one of the best Thai food in Montreal, in the heart of the exquisite Outremont, on the very unique Bernard street.
Outdoor patio as well as the inside decor are fantastic!
You'll become a regular once you pay this place a visit 😃
Good prices, kind staff (even though catching them may sometimes appear to be a formidable undertaking 🫢) & the special cultural experience make this spot quite representative of a Montreal restaurant!
Plats délicieux. Personnel sympathique & rapide.
The Panang curry is simply incredible. Loved the fried tofu as well. Plus the terrasse on a pedestrian street is perfect. Bit on the expensive side but worth it

Trop trop trop bonne nourriture, belle ambiance. I loved the deco & la musique était ON! La qualité de la nourriture on TOP! Mention spéciale pour les desserts!!! Mango sticky rice😋😋😋 crème brûlée coco 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋

We enjoyed the food very much but it was very spicy. Even my Indian friend found it spicy. The most surprising was that even the green vegetables were spicy. We ate outside & it was very nice.
We used to go more often, but they seemed to have removed some vegan options from the menu a year or two ago. I'm sure the meat items are good, but there are not enough options for us to go back at this point.
Last time we went they were nice about suggesting the little options they had. But I prefer going somewhere that by default supports Jae cuisine & has a good variety of non-meat plates!
