THAILAND -- what comes to your mind when thinking about THAILAND? Is it the temple, the local market, the crazy nightlife, or the Thai smile?!
For me, it is PLAIN SIMPLE: THAI STREET FOOD! Just the ordinary comfort food next to the street - the smell of curries, the colourful dishes with perfect spices, and the wok skill of local vendors.
THAM.MA.DA, a Thai word used to describe something ordinary or simple, is a casual dining cuisine serving ordinary but authentic Thai street dishes. As well as Thai inspired drinks that will bring the “ordinary but extraordinary” vibes, the “same same, but different” food on the plate for you to EXPERIENCE.
Thammada stands out with a warm, intimate dining room, a menu full of fresh, well seasoned Thai dishes, and a friendly, attentive staff that makes the experience feel effortless. Across many visits, dishes like pad Thai, pad see ew, curries, satay and papaya salads are praised for balanced flavors, quality ingredients, and vibrant aromatics, while drinks and desserts add to the enjoyable vibe. The setting is described as cozy and charming, ideal for dates or casual meals with friends, and many highlight reasonable prices given the quality, with a few noting some variability in portion size or pacing. Overall, Thammada delivers authentic Thai flavors, thoughtful service, and a welcoming atmosphere that leaves guests eager to return.
Bangkok Iced Tea (mocktail) - 10/10
I had the mocktail version & it was amazing-like an iced tea mixed with a mojito, which are two of my favourite drinks. The flavour was a 10/10. There was a bit too much ice, so it felt like I didn't get much actual drink, & it wasn't the most visually appealing, but don't let that stop you from ordering it.
Never Ending Summer - 3/10
This drink mostly just tasted like alcohol with little to no flavour. It was honestly not enjoyable-more like alcohol mixed with water. It looked nice, but the taste didn't match. My friend only finished it because she paid for it.
Choo Chee Goong - 9/10
This dish was delicious. I have a low spice tolerance, & while it was quite spicy for me, it wasn't overpowering-I could still taste all the flavours. I personally would have preferred it a bit less spicy, but that's just my preference. I would still definitely recommend it.
Shrimp Pad Thai - 8/10
Very tasty overall. It only came with four shrimp, so I do wish there were a few more, but they were cooked perfectly. I don't usually like when shrimp tastes overly'fishy,' but this was done really well. I forgot to ask for no egg (since I don't like it), but aside from that, I enjoyed it. I do wish the menu had more vegetable options-adding something like broccoli to the pad thai would make it even better.
Menu
I was a bit disappointed that the online menu didn't match the in-person menu, as some items I wanted to try weren't available.
Overall Food & Atmosphere
The food is definitely good, & the ambiance is cute, chill, & enjoyable.
Service
The service was a bit disappointing. We waited about 15 minutes at the beginning before anyone checked on us, & about an hour for our food-even though we arrived right at opening & were the first to order. Other tables that ordered after us received the same dishes before we did ours. We almost felt a little ignored even
There were also delays with smaller things: empty water glasses for 5-10 minutes, plates not cleared for around 10-20 minutes, & a long wait (over 10 minutes) for chopsticks after our food arrived-I had to remind the server, he had brought them to the wrong table.
While the server was kind & gave a great drink recommendation, he seemed a bit overwhelmed or scattered, especially considering the restaurant wasn't very busy. Overall, the service could have been more attentive & organized.
A thai resto in Mile-End that was smaller than we thought but could still accommodate a big group. Floor was a bit slippery so would recommend putting a carpet. Shared different appetizers & dishes. Tasty food but more expensive & smaller portion than we thought! Service was great though!

Every time that I've been at this restaurant, the food, cocktails, & ambiance have been fantastic. The service is excellent, always attentive, even when the place is full. I have tried several dishes & they were all amazing : Green papaya salad. Kha prao moo, Penang curry & green curry. I appreciate that they can make dishes less spicy if desired. The place is warm & cosy. I love the pictures on the walls. Did I say the cocktails are amazing? I just love this restaurant. Try it you won't regret it.
Every dish was fantastic. We ordered the dinner for 2, & I don't have a favorite but each dish was perfectly seasoned, fragrant & satisfying mouthfeel with every bite. Thanks for making my first experience with Tom yum soup an excellent one! The pork belly & braised short ribs were exceptional if I had to pick, & the dressing for the moon paper & papaya salad helped balance any richness in the dishes. The servers were kind & engaging & it was a great vibe in the restaurant, chill, loungey & still allowed for private conversation. Particularly liked the chosen artwork on the walls. Thanks Thammada! I look forward to eating there again!
It was an amazing experience for all of us. Thammada is a great place for a celebration, fully recommend to try the tasting menu, as you can savour most of their dishes. Will be going back for sure.
Hello! The food was great & I loved the patio, however our service was a bit disorganized. Our table was not ready on time for the reservation & when it was, no one informed us so we were waiting for a while; different servers visited our table so we were asked the same questions multiple times; all of our food came at the same time & was brought before our drinks; dishes were all taken away & our bill was offered before we were done eating/drinking. That said everyone working was extremely professional & friendly & we loved it overall!

Thai is one of my favorite cuisines & this place is now near the top. Their little side patio is really nice & service was great. We started with Moon Paper, a fried pastry with pork & shrimp, which was so good & the side of veggies was excellent (but note that it is quite spicy 🥵 ). The main dish was the braised panang short ribs which were excellent & came with a side of rice. We enjoyed the food so much we had to try another dish, so we had the Sai Oua, grilled spicy pork sausage, which was ok but of all the dishes our least favorite.
Overall we had such a great time we can't wait to come back.
We (party of 7) had a great time at Thammada. We sat on the summer terrace, but the inside looked very cute as well. The servers were very attentive & kind, & the food & drinks were honestly SO GOOD. i have eaten at most Thai restaurants in Montreal, & this is my new favourite. We ordered (I think) 7 starters & dishes to share between us, & then a mango sticky rice per person. The dishes are not huge, but I was pleasantly sated. I definitely *could* have eaten more (but then might have felt gross). I'm already trying to figure out when I can next go back!
Loved the ambiance & food that this little restaurant in Outremont has to offer! The chicken wings & fried tofu were amazing as appetizers. Enough to feed four. Can't wait to go back & try the rest of their dishes!
Yesterday was my second time here in 3 weeks. We tried something different & loved it just as much! All the dishes are great! & if you squint when sitting on the patio you feel like at a vacation spot. Thnx for the warm welcome Bao!
The service from start to finish was excellent. Fast & very friendly. Gave recommendations for their favourite dishes & the food was really good. Highly recommend.
Friendly service, & very good Thai food in a city where that's not really a thing. We had mostly vegan dishes (spring rolls, green curry, pad thai) & they're excellent.
Overall experience is OK. We felt there is fewer people to wait tables & service is slightly slower.
We ordered a chicken appetizer, thai green curry with chicken & shrimp pad thai. Chicken in both the dishes was stale (appetizer was really bad), but curry itself was delicious & the shrimp pad thai too. When the waiter asked us how our appetizer was we told him it felt stale & later he actually deducted it from the bill which was really nice of him!
Overall OK experience, quantities are small. If you are hungry make sure you order more dishes!
