pasta(74) pates(19) sauce(17) recommend(16) generous(13) fresh(11) highly recommend(9) price(9) cozy(9) flavor(9) delicieuses(8) pesto(6)Yum yum yum. I was starving & a giant bowl of meaty pasta was exactly what I needed. The portion size is massive though, so best tackled in teams of 2! I had the minced beef with meatballs.
I visited recently with a friend after seeing the spot recommended on TikTok.
FOOD: Good, but not memorable. The menu is extremely limited: mainly penne pasta with 4 or 5 sauce options. We tried the cream of pesto & a spicy version, both decent & ready in under 5 minutes. We added meatballs & chicken on the side, which I wouldn't recommend. The meatballs were mini sized, dry, & served cold without marinara sauce, while the chicken tasted processed, bland, & not freshly prepared & also cold. There's no alcohol (the available wine is non-alcoholic), & the overall menu is very minimal (no salad, soup, etc). No bread service, & no fresh parmesan or pepper grinder, just chili flakes, ground pepper shaker & a solid chili oil (though the Ikea bottle is awkward to pour from).
ATMOSPHERE: Clean, open, & airy with an industrial, minimalist aesthetic. No music, just quiet. Seating is somewhat limited, with a loft-style second level. The washroom was notably spotless, which is always a good sign.
SERVICE : Underwhelming. Despite the restaurant being quiet, service felt inattentive...we had to ask for everything, from side plates to ice. The overall interaction lacked warmth.Even something as simple as ice...when we finally got it, it was just a few small cubes, which didn't go far with canned drinks.I also found myself wishing the owner featured in the videos had been there, as the experience didn't quite match the energy or care that's portrayed online.
OVERALL: A no-frills pasta spot with generous portions & simple offerings, which likely keeps prices reasonable. It could be elevated with small touches like bread service or wine. Be prepared to walk, as parking in the area doesn't exist.I'm glad I visited & supported a local spot while in town, but it's not somewhere I'd go out of my way to return to. It has potential, but for me, the service & small details made a lasting impression, & not in the best way. No hate...just constructive feedback which I didn't score to harshly on. I do agree with some of the lower scores I've seen in the reviews but I want to give a small business a chance to improve, even if some replies to diners real experiences have been met defensively & with sarcasm & rude comments from management.
Nice space for a quick bite! Pasta is a little overpriced( if you add protein) but tasty.
Staff were really nice & welcoming, which I appreciated. The pasta, though, wasn't anything special & was a bit too oily. The pesto tasted more like a ready-made sauce than something fresh, so that was a bit disappointing.
Pasta was nice enough not really exceptional. As others have said I think it's more suitable for a lunch if you're in the area & hungry, but wouldn't go out of my way to go there for dinner. Weird vibe & felt a bit uncomfortable there but not exactly sure why. Staff not very friendly & didn't know answers to basic questions. Spotify or the radio was playing with a lot of ads, & decor felt a bit cheap.
Would go again if in the area but think there could be improvements made.
We were group three friends & we ordered Chicken Rose pasta, Pesto & Shnoopa's spl. Truffle oil penne pasta. They all tasted amazing!
Shnoopa is a solid dining experience. Here is what I liked:
-the portion size
-the sauces
Here's what didn't work for me:
-only rigatoni, penne & spaghetti on the menu
-NOTHING else on the menu. No salad, no apps, no dessert
-ambience is very condo-like
-no wine, no liquor license so I drank san pellegrino
Sort of disappointing but would be fine if you are in the mood for pasta for a quick bite at lunchtime.
Un vrai coup de coeur ! Les pâtes sont délicieuses, le concept est original & la décoration est splendide. Le service est exceptionnel, on se sent vraiment bien accueilli. À refaire sans hésiter !
Came here for date night on a Saturday at 5:30pm & it was not busy at all so I don't think it's necessary to have a reservation (although we did have one).
Food was tasty, fresh & was at a good price point. Most pasta dishes are $20 or less unless you add a protein for $6-7.
We were hoping for a more romantic & private atmosphere, unfortunately this place was pretty open, bright, gave off cafe vibes & we were seated right beside the only other people in the place.
The host that seated us & the waitress that served us both seemed to have a difficult time remembering that we spoke English rather than French & didn't have an easy time speaking with us which didn't make us feel very welcome or comfortable.
Food came out very quickly & tasted good. Music was quite loud & ads played a couple times.
Overall we won't be making the drive from Ottawa again to dine here as there are better pasta places closer to home with a nicer, more welcoming atmosphere.
Service rapide. Bonnes portions & vraiment bonnes pâtes. Extra de 7.50$ pour le poulet c'est relativement élevé pour la quantité qu'ils mettent, mais sinon bon resto!
